Harrison Ford Gives Some Indiana Jones 5 Details

We haven't heard much on a follow-up to last summer's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but it seems like the series' star is ready to reprise his legendary role. MTV recently spoke with Harrison Ford, who was promoting his new film Extraordinary Measures, and spoke a bit about Indiana Jones 5 as well.

"I think it would be interesting to advance the understanding of the character, as we always have had that ambition throughout the series," Ford said of what he needs to see in an "Indy 5" script before he's willing to step on the gas like Short Round in a Shanghai taxi cab. "I think it would be interesting to deepen the relationship between he and his son [Mutt, played by Shia LaBeouf] and play on that relationship. ... It's full of opportunity. The series is full of opportunity."

I hope new one is better then last one, that last one was like there was no thought in it at all, should just called it indy meets alines, I hope luca put more time and effort into it then just take pice of paper wipping his ass and calling it a script. Jungel boy was horriable, I thought i was watching jungle book.

Harrison Ford: "It's a great oppurtunity for me to make millions off of toys and silly advertising. Other than that, Shia can carry the film for me."

'Great'. Shia is coming back to take over the action scenes again while Indy watches him. What a bummer.

Yeah I thought Shia was funnier than Harrison was, which is almost sad since Indy always said funny things, and he only said like 2 funny things in Crystal Skull. The snake comment and the other one I can't remember now.

Todd: I disagree completely. I think Shia is one of the most watchable actors of his generation. He's like a young Tom Hanks and has a similarly big career ahead of him. He was the only tolerable thing about Transformers, to me.

They'll keep HF as long as they can for the part until Shia gets some acting lessions. I found he was the only weak one in the entire film besides the horrid ending. Other wise I liked it.

I love all of the movies, even the last one. They should keep making them as long as Ford can do it.

It is truly hard for me to not like a decent looking film, and I didn't like Crystal Skull at all. I love Indy. AND I like alien related stuff, but the dialogue was what ruined it for me. The ant part was the coolest thing (even if it was far fetched).

Some of you seem to be missing the point. The fact is that Crystal Skull didn't suck simply because the adventure involved aliens instead of religious or mythological things. It sucked for a multitude of other reasons. I actually liked the idea of aliens being introduced to the Indy series (this actually wasn't be the first time Indy encountered aliens if you count the comics and other stories). I felt that it was introduced in a haphazard way. It was so shoved down our throats that the crystal skull was the actual skull to an alien that getting to see them at the end brought no satisfaction whatsoever. Some of the sets were laughably fake looking. And then, of course, there's the fridge thing. Sure, Indy has done some other fantastic things, but this just crossed an imaginary line that put this movie outside of the realm of awesomeness that Indy formerly inhabited. You put all these things together, and Indy fans like me feel cheated. Sure, I wanted to see another Indy film since I was a kid, but what they gave us was an insult. It was a half-assed effort that seems to have been made to sucker me out of the price of a movie ticket.

I agree with Josh. In the others peoples skin is getting burned off and have their hearts ripped out with absolutely no wound or scar.

I know Lucas envisioned a 9 or 12 part Star Wars saga. If he is to ever pull this off, the next series would have to be CGI ala Final Fantasy. As for Indy 5, it could work but he needs to do what the fans want...not this alien crap he came up with last movie. I personally would love to see another Indy tv series.

ok...where's Star Wars 7?! I seriously think that they could pull off sort of the same big comback Indiana Jones did, only we would see the big return of Han, Luke, Leia. And as much as I liked Indy 4, I think it would work better if they didn't do a 5th one (but of course, if one is released, I won't hesitate to see it)

Why are aliens harder for people to accept than any of the mythical/supernatural relics of the other three films?

The four indy films were great in my view. If you keep bitching for more historic Indy then go watch the long drawn out TV show. I have attempted on 15 different ocations to watch it, and can't get past the 1st volume. Bring back the jaw dropping adventure and the stunt that just makes you say that is just on the edge of believable. I agree that we are are due for a nother European adventure as to follow the pattern set up by the 1st 4 movies, but don't go too deep into history as we have the Young Indy Chronicles for that. Just like with Star Wars don't compair it to the orginal because there is no comparison, but as Ollie-Styrene says just sit back and enjoy the show.

fourth was great,.. ending was good too.. stop bitchin and start enjoying movies instead.. the studio runs this show anyway (lucas/spielberg) so just sit back or dont go to the show!!!

5 and 6 will be the last films for HF. I didn't mind the nuke fridge, nor the jungle swinging what annoyed me the most was the ending, extradimentional beings that just pushed me too far.
Otherwise I will watch another, what next the disappearance of Shia.

I loved Crystal Skull. I would be excited for Indy films as long as Ford is willing to do them. I like Shia too, but I hope they never try to actually hand over the franchise to him as the main character.

still dont see why no one likes the Crystal Skull. Just cause you all grew up with Arthurian legends of the Holy Grail and read about the Ark in Sunday school, you cant except the oddities of south America. Why because it not in the bible or a European legend. there is a lot of odd things about the architecture and lore of south America thats not too far fetch. Aliens, god, magic rocks, whats the big deal, its all lore. I love how people want a return to historical like items to search for. the last films were about magic stones, the ark and the grail, if you think thats historical why not the legends of south america and the possiblity of aliens. Its a movie based on old legends.

4 was literally the worse cinematic experience I've ever had. It was a dark dark day. If 5 does go ahead, Lucas should have no involvement in the script, Marion and Mutt need to go and dumb sh*t like nuked fridges need to be avoided.

  23. IMattic

I (like many others) consider myself fortunate to be one of the most avid Indy fans. While the fourth installment was a bit unorthodox, I feel as though it reinvigorated the series amongst a much younger audience today - thus ushering Indy into a new generation. He is no longer a man, but an icon which has truly become immortal. At the same time I am pleased that they letting Indy age gracefully with a certain amount of dignity. I must therefore commend Harrison Ford for all he has done both for the character and fans alike. There has never quite been a role like Indiana Jones and I doubt there will ever be again...

    To Indy!

4 was really good. not up to the standard of the prior 3 on complete story content, but still very good. I would love to see a more historical return in 5, but with the major religouse stories used, they would have to take a story in another direction. But with the USSR/Russian's as the bad guys, there is a limited real world war epic to go for. They already past the korean war, and Vietnam is to far off. So what would Communist Russia want to use them as the bad guys.
