this movie looks like Abraham Lincoln Vampire hunter had a baby with Van helsing. and every time Gemma Arterton said Hansel it reminded me of the old Looney Tunes Cartoon where Bugs Bunny Saves Hansel and Grettle.

@felipe-11@moviegeek -- I disagree, but I understand where you both are coming from. This looks like it'll be a 5/10, but those other two movies you guys named look more along the lines of 4/10. Yes, I still have yet to see both.

@dan1 -- Aha! That's the same scene I took an issue with. That, the sniper scene, and the scene were they all get drunk, and Renner starts riding the other guy.

Holly sh*t, this looks terrible. It makes last year's The Three Musketeers look like an Academy Award-winning epic.
I might "double feature" it just for some Gemma Arterton eyecandy and some Renner, but this looks worse than Abraham Lincoln (and that was pretty damn bad).

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx I look at Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter for the best comparisson. Cost something around $75 million to make. Made $37 in the US. And I thought that one looked way better than this one does.

@XxNickTheFilmCriticXx You know the one. Where he sneaks around the city, then comes back to base.

@dan1 -- Which scene?

@rufio You're not wrong in your assessment, I'll say that. And people like to bring up Hurt Locker (a good movie), yet I remember how his character commits the most unrealistic act in the film, and he wasn't any different to help sell said scene.

@dan1 unfortunately, yes. not what i'm hoping for, but even in this trailer it looks like Hawkeye and Gretel. hoping i'm wrong and this movie shows him his need to stretch himself acting-wise, b/c i'm afraid it is gonna reveal to audiences and studios that he's product of casting in good movies/roles versus fantastic acting.

won't flop... won't succeed. this fairytale has minimal appeal and will probably intrigue horror fans more than anything. it has a Monster Squad meets Van Helsig feel to it.
one thing for sure - Renner is not enough of a name to sell a movie. he's been in a lot of big movies, but even if he's the face of the movie, it is the character or franchise behind it that sells the movie: Mission Impossible, Avengers, Bourne. he got props for The Town (but Affleck, deservedly so, got more for both direction and acting... plus Renner was fresh off Hurt Locker, so he was still a newbie). so he really hasn't changed at all as an actor. his performance in every movie he's been in is the same - just change his wardrobe and character name... the performance is the same.
i think this is the movie that will show his achilles heel.

It looks fun and all, but I'm already missing the Renner/Hurt Locker days. I hope he steps his game up soon

@moviegeek -- I agree with your first statement, but I doubt it'll flop. But, who knows, especially after we just got our dose of "Mirror, Mirror", and "Snow White and the Huntsman".

Speaking from the perspective of Jeremy Renner's career, it certainly has to be better than The Bourne Legacy. I'm looking forward to it.

Snowwhite, Hansel and Gretel and Jack the giant killer. Hollywood can turn anything into an action movie. Oh well at least Peter Stomare is in it. He's always good for a laugh.
