Hangover 2 Script Is Nearing Completion

After the monumental success of Todd Phillips' summer comedy The Hangover, it shouldn't surprise anyone that a sequel is fastly approaching its own headache-inducing start date. According to a new interview with Entertainment Weely, Phillips himself is writing the follow-up screenplay, which he is midway through completing.

Phillips told the publication:

"You always have those days (on set) when you say, 'If we did another one, wouldn't it be funny if...? Once the movie tested well, Warner Bros. came to me even before it was released and said, 'Let's do another one.' What people loved about The Hangover was not Las Vegas or the bachelor party but these three characters. I think you can take those characters and put them in other situations, and you don't need the sell of Vegas and a bachelor party and all that other stuff."

Phillips is currently hard at work on Due Date, a comedy which will team Robert Downey Jr. with The Hangover's bearded wonder Zach Galifianakis. You can look for The Hangover 2 to hit theaters sometime in 2011.

The Hangover was released June 5th, 2009 and stars Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Heather Graham, Sasha Barrese, Jeffrey Tambor, Ken Jeong. The film is directed by Todd Phillips.

Due Date was released November 5th, 2010 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, Jamie Foxx, Juliette Lewis, Michelle Monaghan, Alan Arkin, Matt Walsh, RZA. The film is directed by Todd Phillips.

The Hangover Part II was released May 26th, 2011 and stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong, Jamie Chung, Paul Giamatti, Nick Cassavetes. The film is directed by Todd Phillips.

As much as I would love to see a sequel to this movie, I think this is a bad idea...

THE HANGOVER was good, but not great. It could have used a bit of a punch but overall; a fun film.

you guys are spot on, they shouldn't even bother with the sequel. It's going to be a silly 'situation' comedy at best. At worst, it'll be OLD DOGS/ROAD HOGS! Just slapstick 'nut-kicking' garbage.

But since they are doing this, i hope they don't actually make the characters have a binge/hangover in the story, that would be ridiculous. They shouldn't even call it hangover 2. We are realy going back to the cheesy 80s comedies

How do you make a sequel to a film about a once in a lifetime type of random events during one night lol? It'd be too predictable and cheezy to do it now. Knowing they'd try to "one up" the randomness of the first film. Silly idea. Some sequels are better, but it's rare. Meet the Fockers was actually really dang funny. And of course they are usually never better than the originals but still funny to many people. I liked Men In Black 2 and Ghostbusters 2. That's blasphemy to say otherwise lol. Well, to say that about GB2 anyway lol.

Newkill I do agree with you. I think that this is a stupid idea.
But I do love Christmas Vacation even though National Lampoon movies really dont count as sequels.

Lol, Meet the fockers, are you serious? What a way to milk a franchise like that. Austin Powers 2 was okay but no where near as funny as the first one and Austin Powers 3 is absolutely terrible. Those Vacation movies don't count. There more like spin offs than sequels.

terrible idea. I can't think of one sequel of a comedy genre film that was done well. MIB 2-crap, Ghostbusters 2-crap, Caddyshack 2-crap.
