Hancock 2 Gets Writers

Columbia has set writers Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara to pen Hancock 2, the sequel to the Will Smith superhero movie, which grossed $624 million worldwide last year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The plot details are being kept under wraps, though the scribes will work with Smith and director Peter Berg to build on the world hinted at in the first movie.

The original starred Smith as a boozy, irresponsible superhero who undergoes an image makeover by a public relations man. It later is revealed that the hero is part of a line of immortal beings who have been around for more than 3,000 years and begin to lose their powers when in proximity to fellow immortals.

Hancock, originally titled Tonight He Comes, took more than 12 years to make it to the screen; the sequel will be on a faster track.

No production date has been set.

Your right about that it's just Will doesn't want to come back. He said so, as much fun that he had he would rather not put spandex back on. I would rather see him finish off BB and MIB, but for some reason he's bent on making touchy feeling films and over the top serious films instead and redeeming his name.
Personally he's lost me as a fan, I would rather watch his old films now.

the first was a great idea, but like most of Will Smith's films lately, it falls apart in the middle to end and never recovers. that being said, this was not beyond hope and if they do the sequel better than the original this could be a bankable franchise.

    Okay.. Let me think.
First: There is Global Warming. I think we all know that.
Second: The MTV awards suck major balls. If you were as smat or as "right" as you make yourself out to be, you would know that.
Third: Judging by how you defend this so badly, you wouldn't know a geat movie if it slapped you in the face. Prove me wong.
And fourth: none of us are bashing this movie. we all agreed its fun, but could have been better by far, with the potential it had. We just want this to be better.
And last: Telling us to shut up..over the internet.. Whats the point in that? I mean, do you get it? I sure don't.

nothing but haters talking on here. what would make any of you people happy? thats why alot of great movies and tv shows can be made or get cut off because people don't have enough brain power to know what they want or let something good play out to see if it gets better than before. i bet all of you haters also belive global warming is a myth or that america wasn't founded by criminals and isn't run by criminals. i also bet many of you think you could make a better movie and that it would get movie of the year at the MTV movie awards. hanc*ck was a great movie could it of been better? thats why they make sequels. duh. is will smith a great actor no but he's a good actor and hanc*ck fits him well. so until any of you make a movie that wins a movie of the year award at the MTV-MA shut the f*ck up.

I kept on expecting a demon attack in the first one, it would have been awesome. It might be why I didn't care about it, but there was a human villain. I would laugh if he was a demon, faking to be hurt and all.

I can't believe it took 12 years and it still sucked as bad as it did. It has a lot of potential, hopefully it delivers in the second one.

It was a fun but only okay movie. I liked it due to Smiths acting and the brief laughs but it was not impressive. Here's hoping mike, here's hoping. :)
