Halloween to Be Re-released on August 14
On August 14th, Anchor Bay Entertainment will be re-releasing the original, truly terrifying John Carpenter's Halloween, repackaged in an all-new, specially designed O-card, set at the low SRP of $14.98. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, P.J. Soles and Donald Pleasance and unveiling legendary villain Michael Myers, Halloween is the definitive remembrance of genuine, pre-CGI horror cinema. Pre-book date is July 12th. The new O-card takes the iconic Halloween logo to a whole new level of cool, featuring "glowing" jack-o-lantern eyes and nose artwork.
In 1978, director John Carpenter redefined horror forever with a film so disturbing; it launched a whole new way to scare. Creating an all-new film language of terror, Halloween's success (made for $325,000, it grossed over $40 million) created the teen slasher genre and inspired a generation of filmmakers including Sean S. Cunningham (Friday the 13th), Eli Roth (Hostel) and Rob Zombie (The Devil's Rejects), whose own ultimate tribute arrives on August 31st with Zombie's major motion picture remake.
One year shy of its 30th anniversary, Halloween remains one of the greatest horror movies ever made. It's the origin story of mass murderer Michael Myers, who on a Halloween night in 1963 murdered his sister, and was subsequently committed to a mental institution. Fifteen years later, he escapes and returns to Haddonfield, Illinois -on Halloween night -- with only one objective: to kill those whom he left behind, and anyone who gets in his way. After that fateful evening, Halloween would never be the same...
