Guillermo Del Toro and James Cameron join up for At the Mountains of Madness
The film will be shot in 3D for Universal Pictures and James Cameron will come aboard as a producer. James Cameron is being choosy about what 3D projects he aligns himself with, but he made an exception due to his respect for del Toro. Also, it is Cameron's involvement that helped convince Universal to go with this project.
At the Mountains of Madness follows "a chilling recollection of an Antarctic expedition's uncanny discoveries-and their encounter with untold menace in the ruins of a lost civilization.
Guillermo del Toro was wanted to make this project for many years. It was was originally set up at DeamWorks in 2004 by del Toro and producers Susan Montford and Don Murphy. Del Toro and Matthew Robbins penned the script, which they are now reworking. The package was picked up by Universal when del Toro made a big overall deal there in 2007.
At the Mountains of Madness comes to theaters in 2013. The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro.

well del Toro is not directing Haunted Mansion, just writing it,I would assume that he would be filming this sometime in the next couple of years

I am thrilled, best film news in a while. Got a bit worried Guillermo would be directing Haunted Mansion. I'm sure he'll write a great script, but this movie will be amazing. And with James Cameron...talk about your dream team (the other being Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson-tragic that that couldn't have happened)

I can live a long, long life without ever having to watch another 3D movie...no matter who's producing/directing it.
Don't know anything about this - But anything with the word "Madness" in the title and directed by Del Toro is okay by me.

this made me like james cameron a little.
also, for some reason i always enjoy movies based on lovecraft's work, even when the movie is horrible (though with del toro directing that may not be an issue).

Where are all the 3D haters now? It seems weird that when other movies are announced to be shoot in 3D you scream bloody murder but when it has to do with that hack Cameron you jump all over it.

Holy sh*t! This is great news, I have no doubt that Del Toro will make this an incredible film, and with Cameron on board, it will also have great 3D. 3D I will definitely shell out to see. Really hope they get started on this as soon as possible.
And MW needs to fire some editors. "At the Mountains of Madness was released in 2009." Come on guys.
