Zoe Saldana is in talks to play the female lead Gamora in Marvel's Phase Two ensemble adventure Guardians of the Galaxy.
Zoe Saldana circles Gamora role in Guardians of the Galaxy
Gamora made her first appearance in the Marvel comic books in 1975. The green-skinned assassin is the last of a race that was wiped out by the Baldoon. She is the adopted daughter of the villain Thanos, who made his presence known during the end credit scene in Marvel's The Avengers.
Gamora's powers include super-human strength, agility, and healing abilities.
It should be noted that Zoe Saldana's deal is not finalized yet. We reported in February that Jason Momoa was in talks to play Drax the Destroyer, before negotiations broke down a month later, causing Marvel to go with Dave Bautista, who has since been confirmed.
Chris Pratt also stars as Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord. Notable Guardians such as Rocket Raccoon and Groot have yet to be cast.
