NBC has picked up the new drama Grimm for the remainder of the 2011-12 season, it was announced today by Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment.

"We are very pleased to be making a full-season commitment for Grimm," said Greenblatt. "This series is turning the traditional procedural drama on its head and is attracting a loyal following for us on Friday nights. We love where it's going creatively and we're excited to deliver more episodes to our audience."

The network will also air a special original episode of Grimm on Thursday, December 8 at 10 p.m. EST/PST, as well as an original episode the following night, Friday December 9 at 9 p.m. EST/PST.

So far this season, Grimm has averaged a 2.3 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 6.9 million viewers overall in "most current" averages from Nielsen Media Research. Grimm has improved the time period by 50 percent in adult 18-49 rating versus NBC's average over the same weeks last season in "live plus same day" averages. Grimm has also built on its adult 18-49 lead-in this fall by an average 100 percent in "live plus same day" ratings, to rank #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in the time slot in adults 18-49.

Based on "Live Plus 7 Day" results for its October 28 debut, Grimm is the #1 new drama on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox in terms of percentage increase from "Live Plus Same Day" to L+7 so far this season, growing by +47% in adults 18-49 (to a 3.15 rating from a 2.15).

Grimm is a new drama series inspired by the classic Grimm's Fairy Tales. Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli, Turn The Beat Around) discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as "Grimms," charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world.

As he tries to hide the dangers of his new found calling from his fiancé, Juliette Silverton, (Bitsie Tulloch, Quarterlife), and his partner, Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby, Lincoln Heights), he becomes ever more entrenched in the ancient rivalries and alliances of the Grimm world.

With help from his confidant, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell, Prison Break), a reformed Grimm creature himself, Nick must navigate through the forces of a larger-than-life mythology, facing off with Hexenbiests, Blutbads and all manner of ancient evils, including royal lines dating back to the original profilers themselves, The Grimm Brothers. Reggie Lee (Persons Unknown) and Sasha Roiz (Caprica) also star.

Grimm is produced by Universal Television with Hazy Mills Productions and GK Productions. It was created by Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf. Sean Hayes, Todd Milliner, David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf, Naren Shankar and Norberto Barba are the executive producers.
