There's been an abundance of Warner Bros.-related superhero news lately and that trend is not stopping quite yet. IESB.net is reporting that Greg Berlanti is Warner Bros. top contender to direct The Flash for the studio.

Berlanti is one of the writers and producers on the studio's Green Lantern film, which will be released on June 17, 2011, and he was originally attached to direct before they brought Martin Campbell on board. The site reports the studio praised his prep work on Green Lantern, which lead to his front-runner status to direct The Flash.

The news hasn't been confirmed with the studio as of yet, so we'll be sure to keep you posted on any and all news surrounding The Flash as soon as more information comes in.

The Flash is in development .

I'd like to see Chris Evans, from Fantastic Four, as The Flash. Ryan Reynolds would have been great in the part, but he can't be Green Lantern and The Flash.

With what they've done with the Green Lantern comic books over the past few years, you kind of have to elevate GL to A-list. Blackest Night has been just incredible, hasn't it? Its associated primarily with Green Lantern, so it seems DC has anointed it with top line status.

yeah but the same can be said about iron-man, i'm sure alot of people didn't know who iron-man was until the success of the movie, now because of the movie he is more popular than ever before and i think more people are excite about seeing iron man 2 than spiderman 4. so the same thing can happen to the falsh and green lantern if these are done properly.

No Insert, GL and Flash are still B-list. Sure, they are the top of the tier in the B-list, but they are still B-list. DC doesn't switch up who is in the A-list ever. It has always been Supes, Bats, and WW. They will never change that. They are the only ones that founded the JLA and continue to lead it, and they are the only books that have had a continuous run by DC since its inception, with the exception of a short WW hiatus back in the day when they reconfigured her origin. Nobody else runs the JLA and nobody else is in the A-list. Period. Green Lantern and Flash have grown more popular, sure. GL is the highest character in the B-list, and Flash is right below him. Doesn't matter how the stories are written. That's just how it is man.

It has to do with the studio heads, that make the decision though I admit this is getting seriously mind numming. Why can't they just get along and do all three with different directors, once a trilogy or a single film is done interchange the three and keep doing that unless the films are boring and not even entertaining.
I watched the Flash TV series and liked it of what it was, and they need to have a few more TV series based on other superheroes. Just B listed superheros, so one day they'll get their own films.

GL and Flash have reached A-list status over the past few years. When was the last time Wonder Woman had a good story written about her? GL's series is epic with Geoff Johns writing it for the past 50+ issues, and he did the same with Flash.

But if from the general public's point of view, Wonder Woman would be more recognizable. She does deserve a movie, but I wouldn't call GL and Flash B-list.

i'm with you greatOz, i lovbed the tv show, i agree the stories weren't overlly fantastic but thew effects were very good and very expensive for the time. thats why they only made two seasons because of the budget i think it was like $1 mill on fx alone per episode(don't quote me on that), but overall a great show. (i talk too much)

First GREEN LANTERN , now FLASH??? there not even giving this a chance!!!

Tv drama writers don't transition well for blockbuster action films!Berlanti has ONLY done tv primetime wb dramas!!!

WARNERS are truly keeping their writers working double shifts more than a saigon sweatshop worker!!! Get a REAL movie writer!

This needs to be given the grand-epic-kid-gloves-care-treatment! Budget up and take this sh*t seriously!

@GreatOz I totally remember that Flash TV series. I used to watch it all the time. It had that actor in it that I still see in shows these days.

Dude... Awesome, no doubt, this would make a sick-ass movie, but...

Green Lantern and The Flash are the highest characters in the B-LIST ROSTER! I'm just saying, with no Wonder Woman movie that has ever been made yet, even though Superman and Batman both have their franchises, Green Lantern and Flash need to be put aside for Wonder Woman. She is the last of the A-list characters needing her own film. I mean, this is crap. She got shafted out of her own series for the DCAU and now she is getting shafted with her own movie, in favor of B-list characters. I am glad Green Lantern and The Flash are coming in, but they should be second place to Wonder Woman.

I really don't think that DC and Warner Bros. Pictures have quite figured out what they are doing yet. They want to be competition for Marvel films, or at least get their characters on the big screen too, but so far they have tripped over their own toes. They keep announcing films and then scrapping them. The Flash was already announced once like 3 years ago. Wonder Woman was once in development. What will it take for DC to figure out that she deserves a film ahead of these characters?

The Flash Tv series in the early nineties wasn't too bad, They just werent too creative with the villians. Overall, they had the humor of the situation nailed and the effects were good for the time. Anyone remember it?

Unlike Marvel, DC hasn't come out with a load of superhero films. The only ones that come to mind are Bats and Superman, along with a few others which failed. I would welcome a Flash film and more films that are connected besides the JLA round up.

I was watching Blade 3 last night, the horrible film that it is and it dawned on me for the first time that it was a crossover film Night Stalkers/ Blade.

They need to slow down. If they saturate the market too quickly, we will get watered down(i.e. bad) products. Just focus on making a great Green Lantern movie for now. The Flash isn't going anywhere, and neither is Wonder Woman(whose movie should have been completed years ago, instead of the developmental hell it currently resides in).
