Berlanti hopes to make the jump to big-budget fantasy fare after serving as writer and exec producer on character-driven TV series Brothers & Sisters, Everwood, Jack & Bobby and Dawson's Creek. He previously directed the 2000 feature The Broken Hearts League.
Green Lantern was created in 1940 by Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. The modern-era Green Lantern, Hal Jordan was created by John Broome and Gil Kane in 1959. Hal Jordan is a second-generation test pilot who has been given a ring capable of channeling his willpower, and charged with defending a sector of the universe.
Guggenheim, who works with Berlanti as a writer-producer on Brothers & Sisters, has worked on the Marvel comic-books Amazing Spider-Man, Wolverine and Blade. Green, who has worked with Berlanti on Everwood and Jack & Bobby, is the co-executive producer of the hit NBC series Heroes, and has worked as a writer on Smallville.
There is currently no word as to whether or not Green Lantern will be a direct spin-off of Justice League of America.

hey i have an update. according to batman-on-film.com Berlanti already said that Hal Jordan was going to be the Green Lantern in his film and he said he read the comic books growing up so we know this can be really really good.

but anways i think sinestro should definitely be the main villian in this one. He is one of the green lantern's biggest foes. Definitely need to have Hal Jordan tho. He is my personal favorite green lantern.

well he can't become sinestro, becuase that is his main villian. i think you mean Parelex. anyway could be a neat idea but it depends on what they do in the first one, because it takes a long time for hal to turn evil, in the comics anyway

i think this movie will definitely be a spot on film. Thay have people who are involved in the comic world creating the film. thats always a plus. they should definitely have Hal Jordan and in a sequel have him become Sinestro! Just dont link this to the Justice League film please!!! That film is giong to blow. i cant wait for this one.

I really hope they make this a non-JLA Universe movie (Like the current Batman and Superman movies) and use HAL JORDON - Earth's true Green Lantern!
Hal Jordon should be in the JLA movie too. He's too good of a character to just ignore on screen. Jon Stewart is an awful character by comparison.
