@dan1 but thats the thing, i love this kind of cheese. I just know that people had high expectations for this character. He is one of the upper rung DC's afterall.

And the best part is, its not out yet and it may blow the world into a million tiny pieces with its awesome power. cant wait to find out!

@rufio It does look cheesy. SUPER cheesy and as much as love the character i know it wont be what i want it to be. so my method is take it for what it is. and if it sucks to me (that is not easy with this sort of content) then i know many many more will have hated it. Only time will tell. But ya, your wife was right it does look cheesy.

@stiles i'm fairly certain it will fair better than green hornet, but that only because of the built-in fanboy base it has (ala @skywise and myself). that being said, i am with you - i really do not see this crossing into mainstream fanfare (my wife generally like comic movies though does not read any comics or know their stories, but said she refuses to see GL; her words: "it looks stupid and cheesy").
i think the alien backstory and focus is going to lose a lot of people because they like to see heroes in their reality (fighting crime and such). unless this draws RAVE reviews from critics and fans i'm afraid it will be in the same category of DareDevil success (which, I personally liked a lot - Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, that is).

GL is by far my fav of the DC characters and i never had high hopes for this movie but i still cant wait to see it for myself. I love aliens (well i hate them actually....especially those lil grey ones with the big black eyes - they should all be eradicated) and i love space ships and laser beams. I sound like a kid...

@rufio it's not looking good is it. The CGI suit looks awful and I can't see this film crossing over to a mainstream audience. Will it fare better than The Green Hornet?

What have happened to McFarlane toys? Those were badass. He should've chosen cooler movies to make characters from, though. Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, and Inglourious Basterds, preferably. Those would have been the very definition of badass.

Hell, Full Metal Jacket, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Big Lebowski- talk about coolest characters ever. Instead, he made Corpse Bride.
