Grayskull script is coming very soon
"One of other things I'm really excited about is we're doing a reboot of the 1980s franchise Masters of the Universe. The He-Man franchise. Very excited about that. Should have that script very soon. I'm praying that we can start figuring out how we're going to make it."
Alex Litvak and Michael Finch were brought on last April to pen the script.
No director is attached to the project and no production date has been set.
Masters of the Universe is in development . The film is directed by Jon M. Chu.

What they should do is follow the mythology of the 2002 series instead of the one shot stories of the 1980's series. CGI should be used on Skeletor's face. I look forward to this, and I dearly hope that this movie will be done better than the Lundgren disappointment.

I grew up with the He-Man cartoon and was very disappointed with the Dolph Lundgren He-Man. Get the f-ck out of here with that Gwildor character. Skeletor looked cool though. I just hope they don't use some scrawny ripped guy like Jason Mamoa in the new Conan the Barbarian. A smaller Mamoa/ Hemsworth would be okay as Adam but it would be cool to see someone the size of 2006, 2007, 2009 & 2010 Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler actually play He-Man. If they're gonna use someone who's just tall and ripped then they've started off on the wrong foot. Please don't ruin "The Masters of the Universe".

one movie worth a reboot. the dolph lundgren film was terrible. whoever wrote that piece of junk clearly never watched the original cartoon nor did they seem to care. hopefully this one will honor the original series.

It's been a long time since I watched the old one. If my memory serves me, Courtney Cox was in the original and the guy that played Tom Paris in Voyager.

@ K-Man I 100% agree on the He-Man movie from the 80's. I have it, and still get in the mood to watch it. Its a good movie. Not what it should have been with a good cast for the roles they had. But it was a good movie. Everyone forgets that Adam's mother, the Queen, is from earth anyway. She crash landed by a space ship alone. So going to earth is not a far reaching thing, but with all they could have done for a first film, not exactly the direction it should. I agree that after Thor, Chris would be a great pick for He-Man, and I like the idea of the drastic change in size and looks from Adam to He-Man like the short lived reboot toon they had. But some times, the best thing to do, is stay as close to the original creation, then trying to spin it for something for big screen movie making ability.

This above all other cartoons and shows was what I grew up on. With that said, I have very high hopes/fears about this movie. It's GOTTA be done right, after the failure that was the 80's movie. Which I grew up on too, but is corny now.

@jimthar & J.P. & Bawnian-Dexeus Every time i watched the Thor, it remind me of the Masters of the Universe (starring Dolf Lundgren), you know what i mean...

@justinishulk if not hemsworth, they're going to have to go with an unknown because i dont really think anyone else in hollywood has the look or could pull this off. @k-man i totally agree with you about langella on this one. i happen to think he is one of the best film villains of all time. his acting in that one was amazing. unfortunately he never gets the credit he deserves on those "lists" because of the movie he was in.
im thinking maybe willem dafoe for skeletor in this one. (unless langella wants to come back)
would anyone else LOVE to see nolan direct this pic? just imagine how amazing it would be! it'd be even better if him and his brother wrote it as well.

I would like to see a reboot of this! I was a child of the 80's and 90's so I grew up on Masters of the Universe (starring Dolf Lundgren) and used to LOVE that movie as a kid. Hell, I still think Frank Lengella's portrayal of Skeletor is one of the best "superhero" villains ever.....he put a lot into that role and it would be hard to beat.
Either way, this could be good with the right people behind it. Just throwing a name out there, but I would like to see Guy Ritchie direct this......unlikely, I know, but I think he would be good for it.

@bawnian-dexeus I fully agree with @justinishulk . I've wanted him as He-man since he was casted as Thor. I do think he will be best as He-Man only. However, I think they should cast a teen as Adam and have it be more like the 2002 He-man show in which He-Man and Adam looked nothing alike rather than identicl like the 80's series.

and please god let this one be fully on eternia, not earth. there is no reason whatsoever to have ANY of this take place on earth or to have anything from earth on eternia like in that last crapfest MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE.
