In a story from Variety, Legendary Pictures has bought the rights to Gravel. This is a comicbook series that was created by Warren Ellis and is published by Avatar Press.

The comicbook centers on William Gravel. He is a soldier in the British S.A.S. who uses dark magic to fight supernatural beings for various clients.

Ellis first brought out the character in 1999 in a limited series of graphic novels that were published with the title "Strange Kiss."

The creator will write the first draft of the screenplay. He will also be an executive producer on the project.
