A jailbird grandma and a masked killer couldn't stop Clint Eastwood and his mint classic car on the home video charts this week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gran Torino repeated its feat from last week, sweeping all three home video charts for the second straight week. The triple-win even comes with some stiff competition among new releases this week. Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail was the closest competitor to the Clint Eastwood film, taking second place in both the DVD sales and rental charts. Friday the 13th fared well on the charts as well, taking fourth place on the DVD sales charts and third place on the rental charts. Despite the competition, Gran Torino still ran away with the crown, selling over twice as many DVD's as Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail, even in its second week on the shelves.
The race was a bit closer on the Blu-ray sales charts, though, but Gran Torino still prevailed with Friday the 13th coming in a very close second place. The slasher film sold 92% as many BD discs as Gran Torino and Friday the 13th's BD sales accounted for a solid 20% of the release's total sales. Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail wasn't released on Blu-ray.
