Timothy Olyphant is The Lone Ranger?
Timothy Olyphant, who gives voice to The Spirit of the West in Rango, seems like a logical go-to first choice for Gore Verbinski. A source close to the production recently revealed that the director has acknowledged that the actor, who plays a Deputy U.S. Marshal on FX's Justified, is "right" for the part, and that it "sounds like a good idea".
Gore Verbinski also talked more about his plans for this upcoming live action Western adventure, which will feature Tonto as the lead character.
"The only version of 'Lone Ranger' I'm interested in doing is 'Don Quixote' told from Sancho Panza's point of view. And hence I was honest early on with Johnny that Tonto is the part. We're not going to do it [straight], everyone knows that story. I don't want to tell that story. I want the version from the untrustworthy narrator who might be a little crazy - but somehow the question is, is he crazy or is the world crazy? That, I find fascinating. It's just at the primordial stage," Verbinski said. "We're working on the screenplay but if we can pull that off - find that story I want to tell - then it will be worth doing."
When further pressed about who, besides Timothy Olyphant, might be cast as the masked Lone Ranger, Gore Verbinski stated the following.
"It's an odd couple, the two of them together. Getting that tone right is going to be a blast."
George Clooney has also been rumored for the part of Lone Ranger. A casting announcement is expected sooner than later.
The Lone Ranger comes to theaters July 3rd, 2013 and stars Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Ruth Wilson, Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Tom Wilkinson, James Frain. The film is directed by Gore Verbinski.

Does anyone remember Legend of the Lone Ranger. We were invited to the preview and at the end we were ask to fill out cards to see if we wanted to see a sequel to this. Multi questions 1-10 then on the bottom write out an opinion. Me and my friends all said the same thing: good luck if anyone sees this in the first place. One time actor Klinton Spilsbury quit acting after this. This also had Christopher Lloyd as a serious Villain. "Kiiiiiirk, give me Genesis!"

and @john2347 my favorite scene in GO with Timothy Olyphant is when he cannot leave the room when that guy is marking an ex on his arm for the other guy to shoot him, i thought the look on his face of curiosity was priceless, like it was nothing new to him just another day lol

The Narrator: The Better Man
@john2347, judging by your avatar, I take it your an Olyphant fan? Lol.
I was hoping for an older, more screen commanding actor, but Olyphant is a decent choice. Bummer that Tonto will be the narrator and main eyes of the film. While it's a smart move, I don't know if the film will be as gritty as the recent comics, which, from what I hear, are amazingly cool.
