Legendary Pictures has hired Max Borenstein to write their upcoming creature feature remake Godzilla. The Dark Knight Rises writer David S. Goyer previously worked on the screenplay.

The story centers on the legendary monster, who will be fighting other creatures. Back in September, producer Brian Rogers revealed Godzilla will stick fairly close to the original 1956 classic, Godzilla, King of the Monsters!, although it will be updated for modern audiences.

Gareth Edwards (Monsters) is directing, with Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Dan Lin, Roy Lee, and Brian Rogers producing.

It isn't known when production will begin on Godzilla.

Godzilla comes to theaters May 16th, 2014 and stars Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, Ken Watanabe, David Strathairn, Victor Rasuk. The film is directed by Gareth Edwards.

I really hope no one in the 1998 version is involved in this one. I personally feel the series has run its course the recent japanese films have really been clunkers. I really feel they should just put this one to rest.
