According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Pictures' Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire held on to the top spot at the boxoffice for the third consecutive weekend, stirring up an estimated $20.5 million in the process. The fourth installment of the Harry Potter franchise is the first film since Universal Pictures' Meet the Fockers, released during Christmas 2004, to hold the No. 1 position for three consecutive weekends. The Mike Newell-directed Goblet has accumulated an estimated $229.8 million in 17 days and a staggering $560 million in worldwide boxoffice to date. The latest filmed incarnation from the J.K. Rowling book series still is tracking better than the first three films for the same period. In addition, the quick boxoffice infusion from Goblet has vaulted Warner Bros. into first place in the North American market-share race, with 20th Century Fox now a close second.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire held its magical grip on the international boxoffice during the weekend, grossing an estimated $92.6 million from more than 11,600 prints in 57 markets, taking its international cumulative tally to $330.6 million and its overall gross to a massive $560 million. Helping drive results were openings in 15 more markets, including France, where Goblet of Fire grossed an estimated $19.7 million from 950 prints, making it the best opening weekend for a Warner Bros. film. It also was the biggest Potter opening to date and the second-largest opening weekend overall, excluding sneak previews.

Australia also did powerhouse business, opening with $9.2 million from 552 prints, the biggest debut yet for a Potter film and the fifth-largest opening weekend to date. In Korea, the film amassed an estimated $6.2 million from 331 prints, also making it the largest Potter opening so far and the fourth-highest weekend opening excluding sneak previews.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was released November 18th, 2005 and stars Eric Sykes, Timothy Spall, David Tennant, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Mark Williams, James Phelps. The film is directed by Mike Newell.
