Goblet of Fire Enchants DVD Fans with 9 Millions Sales

Movie PictureWarner Home Video's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was the runaway top DVD seller its first week in stores with a strong debut at No. 1 on VideoScan's First Alert for the week ending March 12th.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the fourth film in the Harry Potter franchise that stars Daniel Radcliffe sold 5 million DVDs its first day in stores, according to Warner, and continued that momentum through the weekend. Sources peg first-week sales at nearly 9 million units, which makes the film the top-selling DVD so far this year. Universal Studios Home Entertainment's Jarhead came in second, with estimated sales of 3 million DVDs. That translates to more than $50 million in gross consumer spending compared with total theatrical earnings of $62.6 million.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was released November 18th, 2005 and stars Eric Sykes, Timothy Spall, David Tennant, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Mark Williams, James Phelps. The film is directed by Mike Newell.
