Gil Adler to Produce Havana Nocturne
The film will tell the story of gangsters in Cuba in the 1950's. The script will be based on T.J. English's New York Times bestseller. It follows American gangsters in Batista's Cuba. The main focus will be Meyer Lansky, who helped run the country's casinos, nightclubs and other scandalous businesses. Things start to get complicated when Castro, his rebels and the Cuban Revolution start to rise.
Writing the script will be Matt Cirulnick.
The producers hope to capture Cuba during this boom time. It will juxtapose the mob working in the nightclubs against the revolutionaries in the jungle.
"We really want to show Havana and Cuba as a character at a time that it's booming," Eric Eisner stated. "This is about mobsters who don't only control a few business but try to control an entire country, and the tension that results when their plans go awry."
