Get ready for mass hysteria! This October, Sony Pictures Repertory celebrates the original movie Ghostbusters, its franchise, and its fans by bringing the quintessential modern classic back to theatres for a special limited engagement of one showtime one night a week. Starting on Thursday, October 13, 2011 and continuing every following Thursday in October 2011, fans together will be able to see their favorite paranormal psychologists back on the big screen as they save the world from ghosts, ghouls, and Mr. Stay Puft.

Ghostbusters will show in approximately 500 theatres across the US on October 13th, 20th, and 27th, one showtime each day, in 2K digital with 5.1 surround sound. Please check local listings for showtimes. Ghostbusters will also be showing in select theatres in Canada and in various international markets. Commenting on the announcement, Rory Bruer, president, Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures, said, "We're delighted to be bringing Ghostbusters back to the big screen - this is a special celebration of the movie, giving the fans a chance to see it on the big screen in perfect digital presentation. As we head towards Halloween, we ain't afraid of no ghosts, but just the same, we're glad that everyone's favorite paranormal eliminators are on the case."

The film was directed and produced by Ivan Reitman, with the screenplay written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis. The executive producer was Bernie Brillstein.

What they discover is that all Manhattan is being besieged by ghosts and other worldly demons through a portal in her building.

@ghostman Yep you bet. I can go into any theatre and a ticket for myself and a friend at any given time and 3 tickets on a Wednesday with an orange code. I also get a %40 snack discount at Cineworld (AMC) cinemas.

In which i'm seeing Killer Elite, Drive & Jurassic Park tomorrow. This factor is always the main reason why i'm so behind on so many reviews lol

@jayaottley hold on a minute...did you say 'Free entry for a movie at any theater'? or do you mean that YOU get free entry and citizens/residents still have to pay?

@ghostman Then i'll be a happy bunny..... James Stewart matinees.

Even though we pretty much got a cinema like that over here in the UK it still be awesome. The simple factor that the BFI and The Prince Charles Cinema play oldies is the reason why they're my fav theatres

@jayaottley What if Hollywood runs out of remakes and just starts re-booting itself and re-releases every movie from 1960 and forward?

@ghostman Ahhhhh we did that with the Deathly Hallows Pt.2, all the Potter films were released back into cinemas at &#1633 each.

Were now going to do the same with Twilight, were gonna show Twilight then New Moon after Eclipse and then a midnight screening of Breaking Dawn pt.1.... Thank God i requested that day off.

And pah, who needs Potter or Twilight when you got Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park & Back To The Future :)
