Ghostbusters Coming to Blu-Ray in October?

If word on the grapevine is true, it seems we can see some ecto-plasmic goodness in 1080p this October. According to GBFans.com, Ghostbusters will be coming to Blu-Ray on October 21. This hasn't been confirmed as of yet, but apparently Sony and Vivendi Games want to release both the BD disc and the new Ghostbusters: The Video Game on that same date.

Apparently an Ecto-1 vehicle is currently travelling to Best Buy and Game Stop stores all across the country to promote the new video game.

The site is also reporting that those who buy the game on Playstation 3, XBox 360 or Wii will receive some sort of coupon towards the purchase of the Ghostbusters Special Edition or Blu-Ray disc.

They also mentioned that they are trying to get Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and possibly Ernie Hudson to appear at this year's Comic-Con .

We'll have more details on this as soon as we get more information.

Ghostbusters was released June 8th, 1984 and stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts, William Atherton, Ernie Hudson. The film is directed by Ivan Reitman.

You're wrong Editboy. People like, and ALWAYS will like, to own and have tangible media in their hand. I will never switch or resort to downloads.

Yay "Ghostbusters", BOO Blu-Ray. I agree with you guys...the discs are overpriced and the selection is still pretty poor. Just need to kick downloadable DVD content into high gear and I'll be really happy.

By the time Blu-Ray becomes a real mainstay thing people will either be fed up by the whole thing or buying HD quality movies at an online store like iTunes. This is when THAT really takes hold.

Whatever. You guys obviously haven't experienced Blu-ray or just don't have the means to. Blu-ray is better in every way imaginable (except price, but you pay more for a higher end product naturally anyways). Blu-ray will become far more mainstream and prevalent now that the war with HD DVD is over. I cannot wait to purchase all the great catalog titles, as well as the summer's blockbusters, on Blu-ray this year!
