Harold Ramis hopes to have a release in theaters in 2011
Something's going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We'll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future ... GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011 ... Oh, and I have two one-of-a-kind Ghostbuster yarmulkes sent by fans.
Sony has recruited Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg "The Office" writer-producers to work on a new installment of the 1980s franchise that starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Harold Ramis as bumbling ghost-hunting scientists.
The original filmmakers, including director Ivan Reitman, and cast are aware of the project and involved in its development. Some original cast members might be involved, but the focus will be on a new cast of Ghostbusters.
Ghostbusters 3 comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Sigourney Weaver, Anna Faris, Bill Murray, Eliza Dushku, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson. The film is directed by Ivan Reitman.

Worst scene for me in a film , is in: "Ghostbusters Ii" , in which the remix of "Higher and Higher" is used to animate the Statue of Liberty ....I hate that song ..and goes from bad to just unwatchable to the point I just turn it off ...I walked out in the theater when this started to happen!

I just hope and pray that 3 is not a jumbled mess of ideas and really bad CGI!.
