Ghostbusters 3 Shoots This Spring with or Without Bill Murray

Dan Aykroyd reveals Ghostbusters 3 may happen next year
Actor Dan Aykroyd recently appeared on Dennis Miller's radio program where he dropped some interesting tidbits about Ghostbusters 3.

Back in March, we reported that Ghostbusters 3 may be director Ivan Reitman's next movie, if Bill Murray signs off on the script. According to Dan Aykroyd, they are still unsure if Bill Murray will sign on yet. Take a look at what he had to say below.

"Yes, we will be doing the movie, and hopefully with Mr. Murray. That is our hope. We have an excellent script, but what we have to remember is that Ghostbusters is bigger than any one component. Although Billy was the lead and contributed to it in a massive way, along with myself, Harold (Ramis) and the director and Sigourney (Weaver), the concept is bigger than any one individual role."

The actor also talked a bit about the story line of Ghostbusters 3, confirming that a younger crop of Ghostbusters will be prominently featured.

"The promise of Ghostbusters 3 is that we get to hand the equipment and the franchise down to new blood. My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the Cadillac. He's got a bad knee and can't carry the packs. Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation. We want to go into production in the spring, I hope."

As far as new cast members for this young crop of Ghostbusters, Dan Aykroyd does have one actor in mind.

"I like this Matthew Gray Gubler from the Criminal Minds show, but we'll be casting. We'll see everyone who wants to do it. It will be three guys and a young woman."

Ghostbusters 3 is in development and stars Sigourney Weaver, Anna Faris, Eliza Dushku, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson. The film is directed by Ivan Reitman.

oh man. I really hope Murray signs on. I just can't image in unit without him. But I agree with Bane5000. He is taking way TOO long to make a commitment and I have been wanting a third entry for over a decade now. I really loved his character and would miss him. His witty dialogue and humor really make the films a blast. But no matter what happens. I really hope the script is really good and the film is great.

Though i am one of the many that thought this movie cannot be made without the return of Bill Murray, but seeing his reluctance and well...taking his sweet ass time to make any effort or give word of his return to the franchise, im sad to say, go ahead and make it without him. The fans have been wanting to see another Ghostbusters and see him come back for his role, but if he feels like he shouldnt or doesnt have to, so be it, sux though, wont be the same without him :/

I bet he's holding off to the last minute to get more money. The production companies know it might not do so well and would be worth giving him the extra few bob

I don't get why Murray would do a f*cking Garfield movie but not a sequel to Ghostbusters.

They should reboot Ghostbusters. And Caddyshack. And Stripes. And Groundhog Day. That'll teach Bill Murray.

It is amazing to me, how many airheads we have out there in this world. If anyone out there had been following Bill Murray online the past couple of years and had been paying attention, red flags would have been clearly seen. They have been waving everywhere! Do I know anything for sure by 100%? No, but what I do know is this: Bill Murray began suffering some kind of a health crisis last fall, carrying into winter past February, and I believe he has known for quite some time about something very serious that has happened with his health. Can anyone recognize literal sarchasm when they see it? Bill Murray said he'd only do 3 if were a ghost. Hey people, get a clue! He didn't mean being cast as a ghost, he meant that by the time filming starts, he expects to be a ghost. That's why he hasn't committed to anything. Why would he, if he knew he wouldn't be around long enough for filming to complete? In his mind, that'd knowingly break a commitment. I disagree with Bill Murray about a lot of things. Personally, I believe when it comes to judgement and decision making that all to often, he's had his head up his rear-end. I can honestly say though, that he is a professional and will not commit to a movie he doesn't plan on making.

Also: Just for the record? Ghostbusters with no Bill Murray will equal a flop, a.k.a. a really bad idea.

I mentioned this elswhere, but I want for what I said to be seen. Because of that, you may see my comments about this elswhere. That's because I am copying and pasting this anywhere I see Bill Murray and Ghostbusters 3 mentioned.

Well I would like to see Bill in it, but some Actors are getting too big for their boots. Ghostbusters is just some of the films that made him huge, so he should at least repay the favour. That being said, I also understand his reluctents to do it, he didn't really like number two, which was my fav, lol. So either way, the film will be going ahead with or without which doesn't really bother me.
