Bill Murray says Ghostbusters 3 rewrite is happening
He is been the hold-up in getting this long-gestating sequel to the screen, and most fans have to side with him at this point. Especially when taking in another viewing of Ghostbusters 2 for old time's sake. Let's face facts: We just don't need this sequel! And at this point, no true fan really cares if it ever gets made.
That doesn't stop the press from haranguing the comedic actor about it every chance they get. Bill Murray was on David Letterman this past week, were the subject came up yet once again. Murray seemed like he was being polite more than anything else while quickly touching on the subject.
This is what he told Letterman.
"That's about all they want to know at Cannes, too...But, um...They just don't have a really good script. It's hard. Even the Second Ghostbusters wasn't as much fun for me as the first one. It's hard to make a sequel. That first one was really funny. It was just so darn funny, it's hard for me..."
Letterman pressed the issue, which got Murray to admit that they are currently doing a rewrite.
"We'll try again."
It's likely that Bill Murray will be asked about Ghostbusters 3 until the day he dies, or until the day he decides to step in front of the camera with a proton pack once again strapped to his back. Which one seems more likely to you? Death or Venkman?
Ghostbusters 3 is in development and stars Sigourney Weaver, Anna Faris, Eliza Dushku, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson. The film is directed by Ivan Reitman.

Film being JUST funny doesn't cut it anymore these days. Yeah, keeping to the GBs feel, it should be funny, but it won't cut it.

People hated it, people liked it when the film was released, but for a sequel to be made in todays cinema it all comes down to one thing, Money! will they make money from the 10,000 odd fans that want this film made, probably not. I for one cant see it being made.
Don't get me wrong I would love for third movie to be made, but like Mr Murray has been saying, only if it is a funny film.

I have to admit I enjoyed the 2sd film after viewing countless times, some films grow on you.
So what B Alan did or didn't say, sure it's unprofessional but then again it's just a job to him and he might not care of what we read.
I thought Bill wasn't attached to it, he's the one that's being a jerk about it.

@daveactor7@incmob You're both wrong. Orange treated this the article the same way sports or entertainment columnists do in their columns. They are always injecting their opinion into their works, and rightfully so; that is what they are getting paid to do. Orange goes overboard at times with his spoiling, but in this instance he's in the right.

@Michael-Kolesik@garretbyrne i agree... although the night i went to ghostbusters 2 (due to batman being sold out... sad face) i felt it was a bit flat but over time it has grown on me and today i like watching it just as much as the first... sometimes more... but i love both of them. I do agree with you and @daveactor7 however that b.a orange should not have put his opinion in the piece that ghostbusters 2 was bad. I just dont think it is good journalism. If he was writing a review than that would be sufficient to say after his arguments as to why he thought it was bad, but on any story, i think it had no place for it, voicing your opinion should have been done over coffee with a friend, or even a blog... or perhaps your therapist ... wink wink, but i digress after all how in the world can we even begin to reason with someone that liked jennifers body, and to my knowledge has not even reviewed ghostbusters 2.

@zanyzap I'm sorry but I disagree there. I am a regular and I for one can say that a reporter or writer should not have posted their very obvious opinion on something a lot of people are going to read. They're either going to agree or disagree on certain things but for one to say "It was a bad movie" just come on. I for one didn't think that and as much as I'd love to respect one's opinion, a writer's opinion shall not do in this case. Let us readers be the judge.
Also @Michael-Kolesik just because Orange made this not one of his best articles doesn't mean he has not written some great ones back then.

You may say that Orange writes like a biased jack-off, but your post qualifies you as an arrogant and pretentious f*ckhead, a qualification which I reserve for the stupidest of users. This site and its users used to be fun and entertaining and while there was occasional drama (the regulars will know what I mean) I always enjoyed my time here before everyone started complaining about spoilers and biased journalism and how the articles aren't dry enough and why can't it read like Joe Blows' article about broken power lines or Susie Whatshername's feature on an old lunch lady who is retiring, because that's good journalism. Haven't you ever heard of voice or tone or are you still in high school learning about hooks and the inverted pyramid? And whether or not you like Ghostbusters 2 is irrelevant as it's a joke, which is exactly what I assume your post was.

Okay seriously, whoever wrote this article is a jerk. Reporters are supposed to be neutral and make the readers make their own opinion. Not be a biased jack-off. And for your information, Mister Alan Orange, not everyone thought the 2nd movie was bad. Like me, for one. Sure, it wasn't as good as the 1st, but it was still a good movie to me. So you can suck it, Mr. Orange and do some real reporting.
