Dan Aykroyd confirms Ghostbusters 3 casting rumors
It was rumored on Wednesday that Anna Faris and Bill Hader were up for roles in the long awaited sequel Ghostbusters 3. Now, franchise creator Dan Aykroyd has come forward to confirm those rumors.

Bloody Disgusting learned from a reader that Aykroyd had appeared on WGN Radio in Chicago this past week, where he commented about the casting process on Ghostbusters 3. He stated that they definitely want to bring in some "fresh faces", and that Faris and Hader are at the top of his list for future Ghostbusters. Eliza Dushku's name was also mentioned, as previously rumored, and Dan confirmed that Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver will definitely return for this third movie.

No "official" casting announcements were made by Aykroyd in regards to the new Ghostbusters coming in to take over for Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray, and himself. The comedian said that it was still too early to tell who will round out the cast. Columbia Pictures is eyeing a May 2011 start date for Ghostbusters 3. So expect an official announcement soon.

Ghostbusters 3 is in development and stars Sigourney Weaver, Anna Faris, Eliza Dushku, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson. The film is directed by Ivan Reitman.

Dear God, I LOATHE Anna Faris. This just put my excitement for this movie way down, as much as I love the rest of the cast.

If no official casting announcements were made by Aykroyd, then why the F*CK does the headline say that he confirmed them?

However, Anna Faris is win. So I will be happy if she joins. :D

I'm not against Farris being a Ghostbuster. As I've said in the past, she'll be working with an assumedly strong, funny script, and be around the greats, so I'm optimist she'll be just fine.

Hmmm...not so concerned about Hader as I am Farris, but I guess it will be what we have to work with so, bring it on :p I can't say I'm not excited either, because I am. I have always loved Ghostbusters and hopefully this will be all I hope it will be.

Hell, as of right now, scientists are discovering 'goldilocks' type planets. Planets with just the right temperatures and conditions for possible life, giving more credence to the idea of life out there. So I definitely believe there is more then just us out there, there has to be.

We aren't even in the center or even close to it in our Milky Way galaxy. We're like a suburb, really. I'm of the belief we don't know jack sh*t yet. Maybe 1 percent of 1 percent of the universe do we really understand and know about.

I'm looking forward to Ghostbusters III, but am a little worried. I heard those rumors about Murray being a cameo and/or that they'll be killing off Peter Venkman. For me, both of those aspects repel my interest in this movie. I love Ghostbusters and I'll admit, Peter Venkman is my favorite character. All that put aside, I don't see how anyone can deny that Venkman is the who Ghostbusters is most notorious for (I believe the absence of Venkman is why Extreme Ghostbusters (the cartoon) was so unpopular.). In my opinion, killing off Peter Venkman will break the back of the Ghostbusters franchise. I can't see anything productive, constructive, far much less anything entertaining that can come out of something like that. I hope this movie won't kill off Peter Venkman because if so, I won't be going to see it. I know this is just entertainment, but seeing that is something I'll just not be able to bring myself to do. I'd rather not because in some cases, ignorance really is bliss and if not that, at least cheaper than spending money for tickets to see a bad movie.

people, the world will not end. There is scientific proof now

The only thing I expect is when the Government actually decides to tell us the truth, that we're not alone in the universe. I've known since I was a kid.
The truth will be shattering and it will have an impact on our world.

Bill Hader thumbs up... Anna Farris... thumbs down, unless she of course showed us some boobies then i might be okay with it. I have a feeling sigourney weaver is only there for nostalgiac reasons, much like karen allen in indiana, not much of a character to keep the plot moving... the ghostbusters are important though to pass the baton so to speak. they just need to focus on a couple more alumni from snl a cast that would be committed to two or three more.

@bane5000 Exactly, dude. I think the length of time on the Mayan long count calendar is called a 'baktun'. It's just one ending, and another starting.

And once 2013 arrives, the next doomsday date will be 2020, watch.

@Supes... i always found the 2012 theory funny, just like Y2k, that new years eve i remember seeing people running to stores, stocking up on water and canned goods, as soon as it was 12:01 i was like " ok, i guess nuthin is gonna happen afterall ". the 2012 theory isnt something of the worlds gonna end or the planet is gonna be destroyed, all it signifies is a change in Age, and by Age i mean Age's the world goes through according to the Zodiac Signs.

The Mayan calender maps out the Age Of Pisces, which were currently in at the moment, on December 21,2012, the age of Pisces will end and well enter the Age Of Aquarius, thats all it is, were finishing one age of this Earth and entering another, but people, as always with change, are causing a panic over something so little, its just human nature dude...
