Get the Gringo Trailer

The first trailer has arrived for Get the Gringo (previously known as How I Spent My Summer Vacation), which will premiere exclusively on DirecTV May 1. Click on the video player below for your first look at this Mel Gibson comedy, and read on for details regarding this unique release strategy.



Mel Gibson's Icon Productions has struck a deal with DirecTV and Fox Home Entertainment to premiere Get the Gringo on DirecTV starting May 1. The cable company will have an exclusive one-month window with the comedy, before it debuts on other VOD platforms later this summer. Fox Home Entertainment will also release Get the Gringo on Blu-ray and DVD later this year.

Adrian Grunberg directs Get the Gringo from a screenplay he co-wrote with Mel Gibson. The story centers on Driver (Mel Gibson), who crashes into the U.S./Mexico border wall during a high-speed chase, and is incarcerated in Mexico. He receives survival advice from a 10-year-old boy through the walls of this dilapidated jail cell.

Get the Gringo was released May 1st, 2012 and stars Mel Gibson, Peter Stormare, Dean Norris, Bob Gunton, Scott Cohen, Patrick Bauchau, Kevin Hernandez, Stephanie Lemelin. The film is directed by Adrian Grunberg.

    I mean it looks all right but... why? Usually movie stars fall harder than him and struggle for a longer time before they make something just for TV. Well, at least it's good that his ego didn't get in the way. A lot of film actors would refuse to play in something that didn't get a theatrical release, but good TV has gotten closer to cheap theatrical productions than before.
