Movieset talked to producer Nicolas Chartier, who confirmed the movie is not a direct sequel to Diary of the Dead and is not yet titled but will most likely have the word "dead" in there somewhere.
"We're shooting underwater zombies," Chartier said. "They're swimming, grabbing people's legs, pulling them down. It's a lot of fun."
Romero also told schlock around the clock that this next project will include a couple of characters from Diary of the Dead and that the movie is about "tribalism".
"It starts with the blonde who drove away and the national guardsmen who robbed the people. So those are the only characters that return. What it’s about is tribalism. How the internet creates a Hatfields and McCoys situation. It’s on an island, where people have been lured by someone on the net as a safe haven, but really what these guys are trying to do is hold them up at the boat docks. I don’t know if it’s going to be made. The script is in, so we’ll see what happens."
Romero will shoot the film in Toronto.

Err
i gotta agree with psycho here.
i think the chances of george making a sequel of someone ELSE's zombie movie are pretty slim.
and by 'pretty slim' i mean non-existant.

I know thaaat. But I mean maybe it's the same island. It better be and not just some ill-creative cop-out ROMERO!!! YOU HEAR ME!!!

Err

YES! Underwater zombies? *nerdgasm coming* Can't get enough of Romero's zombies! I'd rather see a 28 Months Later... right now, but I'm patient. An island in this one? Say, didn't the survivors from the 2004 Dawn of the Dead sail to an island for what was suppose to be refuge? Do I smell a potential DOTD prequel?

Err
egad i loved the original 'day of the dead'.
i agree that romero's skills seem to have diminished over the years, but to compare him to uwe boll just seems wrong.
uwe boll never made a single good movie, romero, despite his recent works, has done some brilliant works, and im not just talking about zombie films, im also talking about sh*t like the crazies, or even monkey shines.
i'd say 'bruiser' was the beginning of the end ofhis masterworks. bruiser was pretty awful, despite the intriguing (my opinion) concept behind the story. likewise everything he has done since has been sub-par, at best.

Diary really sucked. Maybe this won't (hopefully). Titles? Sea of the Dead/Tribe of the Dead/Island of the Dead?

OH... watching a Romero movie is like "rotting in hell" and using the word "genius" for a director of "Zombie" movies LOL you must be a zombie to think THAT. Brain Dead. Dear god LOL.

SWAK1774
First of all, Uwe Boll wish he was Romero. Boll's movies suck.
I'm glad his next project is not a sequel to Diary of the Dead. Underwater zombies? It is something different. I wasn't crazy about Day of the Dead, except for the zombie Bubba. It'll probably have that type of feel to it. The national guardsmen reminded me of the *sshole military guys from Day. I'll still watch whatever Romero makes. Who knows, it just might turn out to be good.

I heard that "George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead" was total sh*t. He nees to quit NOW while he's ahead.

I think Romero should give it up, his last movies where pure rubbish.... He's turning into Uwe Boll.
3 years agoby @watchallFlag
Err
there's been an over-saturation of zombie films in the past few years.
of course ill watch anything romero does, at least once, but i hope its better than 'diary of the dead' and not as stupid as how nicolas chartier made it sound.
