George Romero Is Fighting Zombies in Ontario

The news broke sometime last week that George Romero was hard at work on yet another zombie flick, though it had nothing to do with his previous entries in the Night Of The Living Dead saga. Now comes word from Variety that Romero is in fact shooting his latest zombie hell ride in Ontario, and at this moment the film is untitled.

The plot of this latest in a long line of Dead films centers around a small isolated island off the coast of North America where the dead are rising to eat their own relatives. Gosh, I don’t see any social commentary in that short synopsis. The leaders of the island end up debating on whether they should kill off their reanimated kin or preserve them in hopes of finding a cure.

Alan Van Sprang, Kenneth Welsh, Kathleen Munroe, Devon Bostick, Richard Fitzpatrick, Stefano Colacitti and Athena Karkanis have all been cast in the film. The untitled thriller should see release sometime next year.

    Snow zombies?? just because it is filmed in canada doesn't mean there is snow.. maybe some Inuit igloo zombies that chew on dead raw hide to make the leather softer... and the camera angle that you explained so well, it's called a bird eyes view, or god's view.. and yes, it was an amazing shot.

    30 Days of Night is a vampire movie. Not a zombie movie.

    And I just remembered that we did see zombies in the rain in Return of the Living Dead.

    Plus I wasn't referring to the whole movie being in the snow. I'm talking about scenes. For example, my favorite scene in Dawn of the Dead (1978) is when they show the sun coming up. And as the camera pulls back it shows you the mall's parking lot, etc, full of zombies. I appreciate scenes like that.

    that scene in "30 days of night" when the camera is over head looking down at the town and all the vampires are are just killing everything that moves, is one of favourite scenes ever!!! all that blood in the snow was f*cking awesome!

    point is, that idea about the snow has sorta already been done.

    Do you know what else I would like to see in a zombie movie? I want to see them walking in the rain or snow. And they're always shown in the suburbs or the country. Stick them in the projects.

    i think this makes for a good story potential.
    kind of like in 28 days later where they kept the gyu chained up in the yard to see how long it would take for it to starve to death.

    i like the scientific study aspects of some zombie movies, plus this opens the door to a possibilty of having a mad scientist character, and i love mad scientists.

    i always wished i was smart enough to become a mad scientist.

    i happen to have pictures of him dressed up as mickey mouse, and in that horrible picture his girlfriend is dressed up as minnie mouse wearing a strap-on.
