George Lucas to Make Two More Star Wars Movies

Roger Friedman of Fox411 caught up with George Lucas who was attending at the "all-star Time magazine dinner for the 100 most influential people" and here are some snippets of what he said about Star Wars and Indiana Jones:

Lucas is currently preparing Indiana Jones 4 with Harrison Ford, Blanchett and Shia LaBoeuf. The latter plays Ford's son, which means his mother was possibly the character Karen Allen played in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

"I can't say," Lucas said when I brought up Allen.

Lucas says that Sean Connery still hasn't signed on, but his character, Indy's dad, is in the script. Other than that, his lips are sealed.

"Steven thinks we can keep the whole thing a secret," Lucas told me. "I explained to him that it's impossible nowadays. We can't live like that."

Lucas, by the way, says he is readying Clone Wars, an animated series for TV that's derived from Star Wars. Many Star Wars characters appear in Clone Wars, but voiced by other actors.

And here's a little news: Lucas tells me he will make two more live-action films based in the Star Wars era.

"But they won't have members of the Skywalker family as characters," he said. "They will be other people of that milieu."

The two extra films will also be made for TV and probably be an hour long each. But, like Clone Wars, Lucas doesn't know where on TV they will land.

Indiana Jones 4 arrives in theatres on May 22nd, 2008.

This is the best thing!!! Make a whole new story but in the same universe. If he continues to make another trilogy, the story could easily become a little less convincing, but with another hero and his own story, this Star Wars universe will be more completed as a real history and that's so cool!

i think the clone wars cartoon will fly..but i honestly think they should use the books as some serios cannon and do heir to the empire or dark empireas an animated film..

This was totally expected out of me. There are many more Star Wars books after the fact to create more Star Wars movies.

As long as it's (the star wars movie thing) short on muppets and big on story, it could work. Well, as long as Lucas hands most of the creative off to edgy motherf@ckers, that is. The last three star wars films were pretty crapola aside from Temuera Morrison as Jango.
