George Lucas Reveals More About the Star Wars Live-Action TV Series

Movie Picture
Filmmaker George Lucas said that he has "just begun work" on a live-action television series rooted in the Star Wars universe, according to The Los Angeles Times. The science-fiction epic has grossed $4.3 billion in theaters worldwide.

The proposed series does not have anyone from the six Star Wars films as far as connecting the audience expecting the familiar mythology.

"The Skywalkers aren't in it, and it's about minor characters," Lucas said in an interview. "It has nothing to do with Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader or any of those people. It's completely different. But it's a good idea, and it's going to be a lot of fun to do."

Lucas joked that the series would be about "the life of robots" but wouldn't let any details slip about the true premise.

Lucas Animation has already been working for months on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a computer-animated series that he hopes will introduce a new era of visuals to weekly episodic television.

I think no matter what he does it is going to be the best! Star Wars fans have been into the EU for years including myself and this will just add to the genius of Lucas. Even if George made a movie about a piece of crap (S#%T) with a lightsaber defending the universe i would still watch it!!!!!!!!!

I honestly think this will be a highly anticipated expansion of the star wars universe but dont think it will live up to the hype. Lucas is truly genius when it comes to aliens and drama, but i see this going the way of star gate series, or other movies turned to shows. Hott for a while, then slowly fading.

I wish they'd do the spin-off of a Jedi who survived and tried to keep the way of the jedi alive.....in secrecy. Either Aayla or Mace......who are the only 2 main jedi who "COULD" have survived......

Just my thoughts, and I originally heard Lucas was gonna do Ep 1....part of 2....and then let someone else handle Ep 3 alone......yet didnt.....just makes me think he's losing his heart for what made him billions..........
