George Clooney to star in Gravity
Clooney replaces Robert Downey Jr. in this thrilling space drama. We reported back in October that Downey had left the project due to scheduling conflicts with Sherlock Holmes II. That report also indicated that Sandra Bullock was locked in as the main character, which has now been confirmed.
Alfonso Cuarón is directing from a script he co-wrote with his son, Jonás Cuarón. The story centers on Sandra Bullock's character, a female astronaut who becomes trapped in space after debris wipes out her space station. While the movie largely revolves around the female character, George Clooney's male lead is said to play a pivotal role in the story as well.
Production will get under way next spring, after George Clooney finishes shooting his latest directorial project, The Ides of March.
Gravity comes to theaters November 21st, 2012 and stars Sandra Bullock, George Clooney. The film is directed by Alfonso CuarĂ³n.

Robert should have done this instead of Sherlock 2. The new TV series is much better than that dumbed down version.

I hope this film turns out good, but the casting is weak IMO. I really lost interest when Natalie Portman bailed on the film.

Wow, boy did this bring down my anticipation. Clooney sucks almost as much as Bullock, he's about as boring and depressing as they come! At least his role is supposed to be pretty minor, but I would MUCH rather have had RDJ on board than Clooney.
What a bummer. I'm hope this still turns out good! At least we still got Alfonso Cuaron on board as the director, otherwise I would scratch this off my list completely.

I am really excited to see this film and the cast is really shaping up. The whole 3D thing seems so gimmicky to me but i am going to take a wait and see attitude with this. Croses fingers.
My only wish is that they had done the Tess Gerritson novel Gravity which is a very similar story (set in space, trapped alone on the space station) only Tess's story deals with microscopic experiments gone bad. Its an awsome novel.
But i will still see this movie.

Awesome news!!! Clooney is a very good replacement for this role, still not sure about Bullock, but I trust Cuaron to make an incredible film. I am really glad this is moving forward!

I think Clooney will be better for this anyway, not sure about Bullock though

Downey Jr. and Portman would have been epic. Danny Ocean and Ms. strange laugh won't be the same magic. I dunno. Cauron is a pretty solid director, though.
