We haven't heard anything about the languishing Gears of War video game adaptation since April 2010, when it was reported that development was stuck in limbo after director Len Wiseman left the project. Today, we have word that New Line Cinema has put the project into turnaround, which means the producers are free to shop it to other studios. The title had been in development at the studio since 2007.

Stuart Beattie was the most recent screenwriter to work on the script, with Chris Morgan (The Fast and the Furious 6) and Billy Ray (The Hunger Games) also turning in screenplay drafts. Creative Artists Agency will spearhead the discussions with potential suitors, working from Stuart Beattie's script. Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen (The Twilight Saga) were previously attached as producers.
