Gavin Hood Is Directing Wolverine

It's official. 20th Century Fox has picked its director for Wolverine. According to Variety, Tsotsi director Gavin Hood has come aboard the solo mutant project.

Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as the fearsome mutant in a script written by David Benioff. The story, a spin-off from the X-Men films, will mix and match classic Wolverine folklore to give a fresh, original take on Logan's origin story. We'll finally get to see how he became endowed with those sharp adamantium claws.

Jackman stated, "I have long been a fan of Gavin's work and know he will make a masterful film with the character intensity and action beats the fans expect." The project will begin shooting in November for a 2008 release date.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was released May 1st, 2009 and stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Will i Am, Lynn Collins, Kevin Durand, Dominic Monaghan, Taylor Kitsch. The film is directed by Gavin Hood.

    So, I guess they are making a Wolverine movie. They are going to have a lot of sh*t about him, aren't they? They did give Wolverine's origin in X2, so what do they plan to do with this? I guess they're gonna expand on that. Somehow, I think this will end up being bad like Electra.

    I think that Singer was a great director for the X-Men movies and maybe Ratner can make a great movie too, I hope. The good thing is that we have a new X-Men film and it is said that a Magneto film will be realized for 2009!

    It will be great if the Magneto film is true because I like all about comics and its movies so I want to see that movie. Maybe there Omega Red could be as villian of Wolverine as in the comics, an there could be the beginning of Sabretooth too!!!!
