Any little nugget of information regarding The Dark Knight Rises seems to push us closer to this final sequel's July 20th release date. Gary Oldman will reprise his role as Jim Gordon, continuing on one of the more popular story threads from previous movies.

As many know, Gary Oldman is an astute and sometimes painfully truthful actor when it comes to projects he is involved with, and praise does not come easily for the perfectionist, who has been known to be quite hard on himself and his past performances. So it shouldn't be taken lightly when he sincerely states that Christopher Nolan has topped himself when it comes to the story for The Dark Knight Rises.

"I have not read the script. But I have talked to Christopher Nolan about the story. It's fantastic. You can't top The Dark Knight, and I think he may have."

When asked if he could tell people when he starts shooting, he very firmly said, "No." The actor then went onto talk about his character in director Tomas Alfredson's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

"It is probably the greatest role I have ever played. Great cast. John Hurt. Tom Hardy. Colin Firth. Ciarán Hinds. Toby Jones. And its directed by Tomas Alfredson. And I think it will be a goodie."

Well he isn't goin to say the movie is bad or doesn't equal up to TDK lol.The problem is he will prob. be bugged about DKR at every press junkit when he's tryin to promote his other films. There is plenty of time before it comes out so i don't really care about what people close to it haft to say right now.

    God Ol' Gary...

@gandoff - I completely agree. They will leave it open so, whether it is decided upon that Nolan and Bale do come back, or they recast, they will want to keep producing the Batman movies.

Oldman is excellent and almost unrecognisable as Gordon. Can't wait for more

He said, "You can't top The Dark Knight, and I think he may have."
I am about as sure as anyone can, WB and DC, would not let Nolan end the Batman 3 part films in a spot where it could not be continued from his creation end.

While I think that topping himself is a stretch, it make you wonder just how great the script is eh? Lord knows just what goes on in that genius mind of his. I'm not expecting it to top TDK, I'm just expecting it to be the greatest trilogy finale ever

(TDK)Comical adaptations are not considered for best picture or direction is wat i came to know thro' someone, even in that case Inception was nominated for the best picture and Nolan not for Best Director. I wonder what is going on bet him and the academy?!

I hope Gary is right but it is going to be hard to top TDK. Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart's performances were some of the best performances in movie history.

@unknown21 So they're just jumping the gun, gotcha. Though I would be pleased with those confirmations. Alberto Falcone and Talia would be welcomed.

@dan1 No they just added it on the site and never told anyone about it also I read on one site that JGL's character will be Carmine Falcone's estranged son looking for revenge but it could be wrong so we just wait until next year

@unknown21 That's what I figured, but they never did a press release about it, did they?

  18. Chris

@dan1 if you go to JGL profile it will show the character's name he's playing/acting also I don't know if it's true but apparently Marion Cotillard will be Talia Al Ghul

@unknown21 It doesn't guarantee anything. The Academy hates Nolan. I'll eat my words if they prove me wrong.

  22. Chris

If it's true than there should be no doubt that Christopher Nolan will have a problem winning best director and best film, TDKR should guarantee it
