The Oscar-nominated actress will appear as a recurring guest star
Sidibe, who guest starred in the pilot episode, just signed on as a recurring guest star in the half-hour series, which is headlined by Laura Linney as Cathy, a repressed suburban wife and mother who reclaims her life after a terminal cancer diagnosis. Sidibe will play a smart-alecky student in Cathy's class.
The Big C, which will begin shooting 13 episodes in May for a late summer premiere, is created and written by Darlene Hunt, who will serve as executive producer, along with Linney, Neal H. Moritz and Vivian Cannon. It is produced by Original Film in association with Sony Pictures Television. Acclaimed writer/director/producer Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) directed the pilot.
Precious was released November 6th, 2009 and stars Gabourey Sidibe, Mo'Nique, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, Sherri Shepherd, Lenny Kravitz, Stephanie Andujar, Chyna Layne. The film is directed by Lee Daniels.

@Vanboy: Actually I wouldn't be whispering to my friends and laughing behind her back, because I'm not a dick.

see im the same way im tired of this girl getting shoved down our throats to but i differ in opinion, i dont care if your fat fit tall short if you can act then who cares what you look like really, the point of an actor is to make you not only forget about your reality while watching but make you emotionally involved in the characters. so like i said differ of opinion, if she falls flat on her face in this role or future roles then ok.

Josh, everybody is pushing this chick down our throats. She plastered all over newspapers and entertainments shows and internet. Sorry to be so frank, but she's obese and nauseating to me. I really don't have anything against overweight people, but Hollywood and the media seems to be rewarding her for being the way she is. Ok, she played a role about an abused teen. Not a stretch. Now why couldn't she have played a character not stereo-typical. Do you really think anybody (or the target audience) learned a lesson from "Precious"?! A movie made to tug a the heart strings of an audience, that couldn't care less after the lights come up.
This IS still America, "The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave", and I'm entitled to my opinion and my first amendment rights and that's that.
Again, sorry for being frank, but I'd rather not see morbidly obese people like her, striking a pose and trying to look like she's some kind of model or something, pretending she's an average person, or worse... better. I mean I like a woman with curves, as much as the next guy for sure, but come on, let's be honest. If she wasn't in this movie, and you saw her on the street, you'd be whispering to your friends and laughing behind her back.
You asked.
