FX Picks Up Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian for Cable TV

It just got released but Variety is reporting that FX has snapped up the basic cable right to 20th Century Fox's Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.

The license deal will last for four years. The price tag for this term?

12% of the films domestic gross.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian will start running on FX in 2011.

So far the movie has picked up $70 million domestically. The feeling is if the film goes past $200 million FX might end up spending more than $24 million.

FX recently picked up the cable rights to Star Trek, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which comes out on June 24.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian was released May 22nd, 2009 and stars Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson, Hank Azaria, Robin Williams, Christopher Guest, Alain Chabat, Steve Coogan. The film is directed by Shawn Levy.

    so pretty much, for four years fx is the only place you can watch these on basic cable or are they allowed to lease it out to make more money? idk these things. im an apple tv user, i rarely watch tv or know whats going on
