Fright Night Official Synopsis

Craig Gillespie's remake of the seminal 1985 vampire classic Fright Night is set to hit theaters next summer, arriving on August 19th of 2011. DreamWorks has unveiled the official plot synopsis for this completely fresh take on a very familiar situation involving cool kids, dorks, and the sexy vampire-next-door.

Here is the official plot description:

Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he's running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he's so cool he's even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there's something not quite right-but everyone, including Charlie's mom (Toni Collette), doesn't notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

Fright Night was released August 19th, 2011 and stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, David Tennant, Imogen Poots, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Dave Franco, Reid Ewing. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie.

you may need to rewatch fright night, trust me you will see that it is a comedy,
but having said that i agree that watching it as a kid was pretty scary.

1st off how is Fright Night a horror comedy??When my dad rented back in the day it was in the horror section at the video store.. It creeped me out as a kid..when Evil Ed and Amy changed into vampires it gave me nightmares...I'm about 90% sure that this is gonna be a bust because of the whole "horror comedy"stigma that was given to the original, I'm gonna need to see the trailer before I'm sold on it.

I couldnt agree with you more. This is a typical old world vampire story set in the modern suburbs and that is what always rang true with me when i was a kid. The Twilight thing...well, i am not a hater but i am also not an audience member. To each their own. i will say that my idea of a vampire is someone like Chris Sarandon....a little suave but all menace. Collin Farrell...i dont know, i just dont know. I have heard that he is doing very well in the part so again...crosses fingers. of course...nothing can live up to those innocent childhood memories so i am basically setting myself up for disapointment by having ANY high hopes. then again, if Tenant signed on the script must have been somewhat decent.

I looooved this movie as a kid and while i am a pretty huge David Tennant fan i just dont know if that will pull me thru. Am i willing to give it a chance? sure i am but Chris Srandon was like, the ultimate bad guy in tons of 80's classics (princess bride anyone?) I am just going to take the wait and see attitude on this one. Oh one more thing....no one....i mean NO ONE could play Evil the way that guy who went off to go gay porn could do Evil. oh well. crosses fingers.

Some movies just shouldn't be remade. I grew up with this one, to me it's a freaking classic. I wish they'd leave well enough alone!
