Vampire Heart to Heart
In the film, senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he's running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he's so cool he's even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there's something not quite right-but everyone, including Charlie's mom (Toni Collette), doesn't notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.
Fright Night was released August 19th, 2011 and stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, David Tennant, Imogen Poots, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Dave Franco, Reid Ewing. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie.

LOVE IT! Hopefully it will do justice to the first one. The original was campy and fun. Hope this is the same...but better. Have to see it.

@skywise Farrell is really good in small little character driven movies. He earned his Golden Globe for In Bruges. This movie seems a little like a step back in his career. But I probably wouldn't even rent it if he wasn't the bad guy. It looks exactly like Disturbia with a vampire.

I was really excited for this movie until the trailer was released. Now I am on the fence as to whether or not to see it.

@jasonkat Actually using Shaun Of The Dead is not a great example, cause first off, I don't even associate Shaun Of The Dead with films like Scary Movie or Vampires Suck. It was a whole other ball game, or monster (if you will) unto itself. Because the whole point of Shaun Of The Dead was to poke fun at and really just pay homage to the zombie genre in general. So if there was a Horror/Comedy scale. In that particular case with that film, it would be completely balanced out because it meant to not take itself in ANYWAY seriously. I thought the scene where Pegg and Frost, in a drunken state, singing "White Lines" and using the noises the zombie makes to add to the song was just hilarious! And I'm saying the horror to comedy ratio balances out because sure the scares were there but everyone has seen them done over and over again. But the gore was very present, and the comedy was just as strong. Neither one element or the other was never stronger than the other. So yes, that kind of silly stuff was indeed suppose to make people laugh. And it did for a lot of people. You say when injecting comedy into a horror movie that its important that it be placed at the right time, well you're right. I think Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright knew exactly how to cleverly place the comedy into that zombie story. They never intended for Shaun Of The Dead to be a straight up horror film with just moments of strategically sprinkled bits of comedy through out the movie. That was never their intention. Now for those REAL hardcore intense horror films where it's ALL about the scares and the gore which leaves little moments of humor, then yes I absolutely agree with you 100% that it's just a give and take kind of thing where you gotta know exactly where to inject those comedic and humorous moments. It's totally a tight rope balancing act kind of thing. Because otherwise the jokes could completely escape the audience or leave them scratching their heads lol.

@Mr_Jellyfish I know what ur saying and its true, But the thing i was getting at, was..when making a horror movie, the "funny" part has to fit in in the right place at the right time. the joke has to b smart...an example is "when they r getting killed, chased or kwatever," they start laughing, or say the dumbest comeback. I hate to bring this1 up again, but in shawn of the dead, those 2 idiots start rapping or singing w a zombie. i mean, is that really suposed to make sumbody laugh? trust me i have a good sense of humour, im open minded to this but sumtimes they over do it with stupidity. im not saying a horror is suposed to b serious the whole way, they just need to keep the right lines in places, thats all.!

@jasonkat I gotta disagree with you there, first of all, I'm a huge fan of films like Brain Dead and Evil Dead which were great horror/comedies, secondly most of the horror films from the 80s had a good sense of humour, It's only recently that horror films have lost their sense of fun, and the result was sh*t like Saw, Hostel and all those bland remakes by Platinum Dunes. But take a look at John Carpenter's work, he made horror films that were fun, The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness are good examples. I think the best horror doesn't take itself seriously, even Frank Darabont's The Mist had jokes and references that give horror fans a good chuckle

Horror and comedy, does not mix. or atleast theres only 1 movie that does in my book but sum of u might disagree w me... its "Club Dread" lol. if u never seen it, go watch it. But point is.. when ur dealing with movies like werewolfs, vampires, zombies or such.. ur best is not to make them sumthing that is supposed to b scary.. funny. because it sends out the wrong kinda message. because when u mix these to genres together. u get SCARY MOVIE, VAMPIRES SUCK, SHAWN OF THE DEAD, But again, most of u prob like those kinda movies, i dont mean to push any buttons there, just saying that horror movies should start being horrors again. and i dont mean jumps here n there, i mean, sumthing from the 80s, where as, sumthing actually gave u nightmares,
