Friday the 13th Sequel Put on Hold and Saw VII Release Locked

Two sequels to popular horror franchises are coming in the 3D format, but one is coming much sooner than the other. Box Office Mojo recently listed release date shifts and it seems that Friday the 13th Part II 3D has been put on hold, with a TBD release. The site also announced, though, that Saw VII 3D has been locked in for an October 22, 2010 release.

Friday the 13th Part II 3D was originally set for an August 13, 2010 release, but it seems they felt they couldn't hit that date. The film will be written by Friday the 13th remake writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.

Saw V director David Hackl will return to direct Saw VII 3D.

Friday the 13th Part 2 in 3D is in development .

Saw 3D was released October 29th, 2010 and stars Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Gina Holden, Betsy Russell, Tanedra Howard, Johnny Yong Bosch, Shauna MacDonald, Franky G. The film is directed by Kevin Greutert.

Cause he is an opinion Nazi. He thinks he is right when 80% of the time he is wrong. That sort of thing. Everyone even tells him and he still doesn't get it lol. What can ya do ya know?

newkill, why do you insist on hating everyone who has a different opinion from yours? it's kinda lame.

Newkill, just stop typing lol. But to add to the whole dicussion here, I did feel the same way Newkill did about Michael Myers as I did about Willy Wonka, they explained his past and I hated that, cause he was cooler mysterious to me. Although, I like knowing that Myers has some type of point, and not just randomly being weird and killing people lol. So I did like how they made him f*cked up, but I can see where Newkill is coming from in that vein.

No, you forget that there are people who will call you on your illogical bullsh*t and poor taste. I called you out on a mistake you made and all you can to is make a petty semantic defense and insult me like a retarded third grader. How do you say it... oh yes, OWNED

...Newkill, weren't you arguing the other day that money doesn't make a movie truly "successful" as a film?

Slysnide, these movies are still making money so really no one gives a f*ck what you think. There gonna make more movies so there you go.

It is done. It was finished when #4 played it's first screening. It sucked majorly, and so have the sequels. If they insist on continuing to make that bullsh*t, then they should go back to the totally isolated world of the first film, which is what made it so much better than all the sequels.

I don't believe the Halloween remake has any merits, especially after the Halloween 2.

  12. Err

i enjoyed the halloween remake on its own merits, but was really bothered by how myers' madness was explained as he was raised in a white trash household.
in the original his parents were clearly middle class, well dressed types, which made his madness more mysterious, which was what made him great. his need to kill was inexplicable, and that was what set him apart from other franchise killers.

And that's how that movie failed. Why tell the origins of a character that was great for being mysterious? There's no fear behind this guy. You look at him now and all you see is a tall guy that used to get bullied and bitched around as a kid. Also, if that's the best way Zombie could show how a serial killer is born, well then you should call a lot people in this world serial killers. There are a lot of people that went through more trauma. Batman Begins is a different story because you basically know about Batman. there's the previous movies and the comics. Michael Myers isn't adapted from comics. Also, let me ask you this, what did you think of the Star Wars prequels. The Anakin origin story, how did you feel about that? If you enjoyed that, then i can see why you love Rob Zombie's Halloween. If you don't like the Anakin story, well, they basically did to Anakin with what they did with Myers. They took a cool character that didn't need a backstory but gave them one anyway and turned him into a p*ssy.

Newkill no affence but the Halloween directed by Rob Zombie was perfect the way it should be it's awsome it's kinda like Batman Begins telling the origins of the infamous Micheal Meyers. It's done well. Punisher i agree with you there some movies should be done in 3d but not the good looking ones cuse you will f*ck them up sorely. Thanx for making that point.

Yentz, anything that comes out of a Bay production studio for horror movies there's never any effort. The direction was not solid in anyway. How could it be solid when they tried to make Leatherface a scary figure instead of his iconic, idiotic-retarded mannerisms. This guy isn't supposed to be scary. All they did was rip off the Jason character and changed the name to Leatherface. Also, there atmosphere was terrible. It didn't even feel like a Texas chainsaw flick. But that's my opinion. And what's not an opinion is that John Carpenter's the Thing is not a remake at all. I don't know why people say that but he did not remake The thing from Another world. People don't realize that he was only using the book, Who Goes there?, as his source. He only made one homage to the movie and that doesn't make The Thing a remake.

It's merely a mind thing, people lost interest in Saw because they have short attention spans, nothing more, the story got more complicated, things are getting more clear as time passes but new questions come up in each film, thus, the simple mind can't handle. It's not really a diss to those who hate it so much, it's just the truth. If you want simple, go watch High School Musical films, chick flicks (you can just pick any of the bunch), or Mr. Rogers. They will stimulate your brain while we watch these Saw films because we are FANS of it. Get it? We like it, doesn't mean YOU have to. But do we really need YOU to talk endless sh*t over and over? No. We know you don't like it, congratulations, you are almost as annoying as the people who always bitch about Spiderman 3. WE F*CKING KNOW! Leave it alone already. You should be proud that something as f*cked up as the Saw franchise is surviving against all the pre-teen bullsh*t out today flooding the market. You bitch about this but it's okay that Hannah Montana is printed onto every f*cking merchandise item you see?

And for those who are newbies to the site, they said they were making 9 Saw films I do believe? Or was it 7? I can't remember at the moment... this was old news, but of course you didn't see it so you talk sh*t. And "HOLLYWOOD" isn't responsible for 7 Saw movies you idiots, Lionsgates make them. They are least of the greedy hollywood studios that you should be worrying about. Learn something before you start typing away thinking what you have to say is worthwhile when you don't know what you are talking about. It will do me and everyone else who reads your garbage a favor. Have a nice day.

Newkill, I found that they put WAY more effort into Texas' than they bothered to with Friday. I'm not saying it was amazing, or a reinvention of horror, but the direction was solid, the atmosphere was well handled and some of the cinematography was well approached. They tried with that one. Thus, I was hoping for the same effort with Friday. I knew it wouldn't be the same, but geez, Friday's remake was one of the worst in the series save the hilariously bad Jason X. I mean, it wasn't just bad horror, it was bad moviemaking. It was sloppy filmmaking in general. There was potential just as there can be with any cheesy flick. The Blob remake was far superior to the black and white version, John Carpenter's The Thing was far superior to the dull original. Cronenberg's The Fly took the story in a completely new, twisted direction. Just because you can't see the potential in something doesn't mean it's not there.

Erick10, since your a f*cking idiot, who just comes along for attention, I guess. Let me make it clear. All i care about is movies that entertain me. Friday movies entertain but yes they are b class movies. Texas remake had nothing going for it. It was boring dull and everything else that's bad. It sucked. I see why now people go see remakes though. Look at these new crappy horror movies coming out. The sh*tfest of Paranormal Activity, The Orphan, and let's not forget the god awful Trick r Treat. I'd rather have the same old sh*t, as long as it's entertaining than some slapped up new sh*t that has no potential of being good or fun to watch. Well, i guess you love terrible movies that bore you such as Paranormal Activity. I rest my case, Erick. you f*cking baffoon. if your next comment, is as dumb as the one you just wrote than don't even bother writing it because you would have just OWNED yourself.

Superjerk90, lol, i felt the Rob Zombie remake was inaccurately titled. Instead of Halloween it should have been called Holloween, because it had nothing going for it. Just a trailer park trash f*ck up. I'd rather watch the Star Wars Prequels ten times before seeing any part of that movie.

Newkill you just make no goddamn sense. you are contradicting yourself. texas chainsaw massacre(2003) is a bad movie, you just said so. but then again you want a bad horror movie, because thats what makes it good...yea and why give me an intersting new horror movie right? give the same old bullsh*t i've seen a 100 times, yea that will work...thats why there will be a saw 7...7, can you actually believe it 7? I mean how pathatic are studios getting, but *sigh* what the hell they made like 10 Friday the 13th's...

  24. superjerk90

yeah ur totally right on that right there. Let me ask u what did u think of the newly remade Halloween movies by Rob Zombie?

    2 years agoby @superjerk90Flag

  25. Newkill3000

That's the thing. I don't want some hot shot director like a Scorsese or something coming in and making a great Friday movie, because then you got all these critics and movie snobs hailing this movie as the greatest horror movie ever and then when they would get back to how Friday movies are supposed to be then you would get all those fools going nuts about how good it used to be. Friday movies should be b horror type movies. Them being bad is what makes them so entertaining.

    2 years agoby @newkill200Flag

  26. superjerk90

i kinda agree with u a bit newkill. But if ur talkin about the leatherface movie it was a good movie but then again i was a little younger when i saw its remake i would have to watch it again to see if it was. But Friday movies will never be good. Unless you have some really super kick-ass director that knows what he's actually doing.

Yentz, not to argue but how can you call the 2003 Texas remake a movie with effort in it. That movie was boring and it absolutely raped the Leatherface character. It's an abomination to the entire franchise. Also, to even think any Friday movie has potential is completely insane. The Friday movies are all fun but light years away from being good. The 2003 Texas remake has already given horror a bad name. It was actually the start of all these bad horror remakes.

  29. Yentz

Can't say I'm looking forward to this... The recent remake was pure and utter garbage. The whole thing had potential, especially after the effort Nispel put into the first Texas remake. But man, I completely agree with Brian, the remake was for the f*cking MTV kids out there--not people hoping for a rejuvenation of the series. The movie was just embarrassing and is what really gives horror a bad name.

    2 years agoby @ayreationFlag

The first one blew...best part was Padalecki...but still...these slicked up MTV horror remakes are pure garbage. I'd still rather them screw up this franchise than screw up the Elm St. franchise, which makes me cringe every time I think about it.
