Frank Miller to Direct Buck Rodgers?

IGN dropped the news earlier today that producer Avi Lerner has picked up the rights to Buck Rogers and that his Millenium Films, home of Rambo and Conan, will be releasing this updated sci fi classic. They also noted that comic book legend Frank Miller is in line to direct the project.

IGN writes, "Miller, we were told, is friends with Flint Dille, a comic book, TV and videogame writer and producer whose credits include serving as the story editor on the 1980s cartoon classics Transformers and G.I. Joe. Dille is the grandson of John Dille, the newspaper publisher of Philip Francis Nowlan's Buck Rogers comic strips. The screen rights to the Buck Rogers character had long been held by Bruckheimer Films, who spent years developing an unrealized film adaptation, before they reverted back to the Dille Family Trust. Filnt Dille, who penned a Buck Rogers graphic novel in the 1990s, will write and produce the new Buck Rogers movie, which we were informed will be budgeted in the $40 million range."

The film does not have a set release date at this time.

Cmon thats just unnecessary, there so many other great filmideas that should come to fruition.
