Fox to Shelter Marmaduke
The long running comic strip was created by Brad Anderson in 1954. It looks at a funny Great Dane who is owned by the Winslow family.
Fox isn't giving any details as the project was just recently put in development.
The studio and Regency Entertainment recently saw great financial rewards with their Christmas 2008 release of Marley & Me. That film grossed $166 million worldwide.

"Shelter"? Please, can't we just use normal words like "options" or "picks up". I know he's a dog, but the headline is a stretch.

Err
bill waterson would never let a calvin and hobbes movie be made, he is whole heartedly against over-marketing of his creation, which is why he loathed jim davis (garfield) so much.

If they're so desperate and willing to make any third-rate comic strip like "Marmaduke", it only begs the question...when the hell are they going to do an adaptation of "Calvin and Hobbes"? Wouldn't that sell more tickets in the long run?

Marmaduke is the single biggest waste of space in the funny pages.

Maybe so Newkill, I hope not, but you are probably right especially if Marmaduke does well.

I have a feeling that all these dog films is going to bring up another installment of Beethoven or Homeward Bound.
