Fox to Remake Romancing the Stone
The original film looked at a bored romance writer who ventures to Columbia to help her missing sister. Things get spicy when she meets up and a rugged, American man of the country.
Daniel McDermott has been tapped to write the screenplay.
The original film was directed by Robert Zemeckis. It also starred Michael Douglas, Danny DeVito and Kathleen Turner as a romantic lead.
Currently, there are no producers on board for this project.

I just read an article that the reason Hollywood is doing so many remakes is because of the current economy. Sounds like a lot of B.S. to me.
