Fox 2000 has just announced that they have picked up the rights to Jeff Kinney's best-selling illustrated novel Diary of a Wimpy Kid. According to Variety, Nina Jacobson is producing the live-action project, which is based on Kinney's Internet comic phenomenon-turned-bestseller.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid centers on a wise-cracking middle school student named Greg Heffley. Kinney's novel illustrates the ups-and-downs over the course of an academic year through Heffley's eyes.

Fox 2000 has not announced when they plan to start production on Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
