This has been done before, but it's a strong cast, and a really well-done trailer, which is enough to get me excited for it. The use of the Johann Johannsson song is a nice touch that gives the film a somber vibe.

@Supes,
I think you summed it up best, this feels like Black Hawk Down+ District 9+ War of the Worlds+ Independence Day.
I'm really looking forward to this.

How can you guys even mention DISTRICT 9 and compare it to this, Cmon man we all know District 9 is on another level, this is just some big ass budget blow em up Hollywood movie. We all know how this movie will start and end, this trailer just told that story.

if it is half as good or better than district 9 am all in, as for the Trailer it looks epic left me breathless... but please dont let this be a case of "Trailer was better than the movie itself" ie Skyline
hopefully my local cinema shows this day 1 (11th March) and not a month after everywere else, otherwise i may download it :( thats only if its good quality (think i will email them now)

i need to change my pants. why is everyone comparing this to district 9? district nine was cool but it felt more like an indie movie with whole plot being centered around how the aliens colonized here and we had to live with them. this is more along the lines of they came here to f*ck sh*t up and aaron eckhart's not down so he's gonna f*ck sh*t up. either way sh*t's gonna get f*cked up. and with the way graphics are now a days it looks like this will be the most accurate alien attack movie to date. march is gonna kick start this year off right cuz last year was pretty dissapointing

March is certainly going to be a good month, with Snyder doing his March thing he does, this, that Limitless movie, I got several things to see that month now.

The Narrator: The Better Man
@Courtney, fully understandable. We don't see many films along those lines. However, I think this film also does something we don't see very often: the invasion from the common soldiers perspective. Closest we got was ID4, but even so, that was really cheesy with no sense of loss or conflict. This film on the other hand, seems to keep the fighting grounded, and the emotional impact of it all seems relatively close to home, unlike ID4 and other films, which for me, is the real selling point. I know it's just a trailer, but I don't doubt the rest of the film follows a similar line.
For the more legitimate thought provoking alien films, we can look to the likes of Ridley Scott, Duncan Jones and Neil Blomkamp, etc. But I think for a blockbuster, this will be a refreshingly good film with some form of consequence from the characters. My two cents. :)
