"He doesn't have the old Robin Hood tights," says producer Brian Grazer. "He's got armor. He's very medieval. He looks, if anything, more like he did in Gladiator than anything we're used to seeing with Robin Hood."
"Oddly, it's a metaphor for today," Grazer says. "He's trying to create equality in a world where there are a lot of injustices. He's a crusader for the people, trying to reclaim some of the ill-gotten gains of the wealthy. That's a universal theme.
We just shot a scene where Maid Marion fires a flaming bow and arrow into the night sky. It's just a cool story."

...CBF...WHAT F*CKING FRANCHISE!?!!? Just because something uses existing characters that have been depicted before doesn't make it a remake of anything! I suppose Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes is "another franchise remake" of the Great Mouse Detective, or Young Sherlock Holmes? Douchecake.

the latter, though they're probably aiming for it to be more well known than the former.

The sequel to "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves"?
Or just another franchise remake that is completely unnecessary?

This picture really makes me feel more relieved. I kept imagining Crowe as "Richie Roberts" in "American Gangster" dressed as Peter Pan for Robin Hood. Looks cool I guess. Ridley Scott is pretty bad ass.
In my opinion, after seeing "The Assassination of Jesse James..." I saw Brad Pitt as Robin Hood, besides that it came down to Sam Rockwell or Robert Downey Jr. That's my opinion.

Trust me, Diaigma, Crowe is going to do great. It's the rest of the movie that i'm curious about. I sure many people felt that Daniel Craig could never pull off Bond. Now look.

I have a hard time seeing Crowe as Robin Hood, even with his get up on :P

When this movie was first going through the motions of pre production (back when it was going to be called Nottingham) The supposed story was going to be the Robin Hood story as told by the Sherrif. Obviously the Sherrif would see himself as the goodguy, and thus wI think we all would have been treated to a very entertaing varient on the old classic story. I still would like to see such a movie come out someday.

I agree, seeing him as the Sheriff would'be been great.

I wonder if Crowe was upset when he found out that he was only going to play Robin Hood and not the sheriff. Him, being an actor, i would think that would be disappointing, because it would show how much of a great actor he is. I think he could've pulled it off.

Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe. Every time they team up for a movie, it is good. Some people said the outfit here looks fake, but I don't really have a problem with it. Hopefully this will be a big hit, because so far, things are looking good.

The Narrator: The Better Man
Looks good. I liked the original plot, (him being the sheriff) and the original Title ("Nottingham) better but it's still good. Although like I said, him being a good Sheriff, and them finally portraying Robin hood in a darker, unmerry/ungood guy tone.

Yeah but watch how many people are going to make comparisons between this version and the Costner version.
I want to know who is the Sheriff of Nottingham. That is the question that ponders my thoughts now on this film.
So now reckon Daniel Craig is a perfect fit for the role
I just hope they don't over-complicate things because this will get bashed hard especially if they try turning it socio-political like Rufio stated

Well in my own personal opinion i personally loved the Kevin Costner take on it, this film i probly wont see in theaters, id rent it and decided after seeing weither or not i want to add it to my collection, and i know their are some on here you didnt like the kevin costner take on it, thats cool but come on guys it made over 165 million in the box office in 1991, thats pretty huge for the early 90's just a thought.

Yeah, your right Nottingham does sound more up to date and everything. But they probably wouldn't let it happen, i guess they thought the audience wouldn't understand it and having Robin Hood would probably just attract more people.

Hmmmm, looks good, i'm intriuged definately but the description of the official synopsis made it sound really over complicating. I just hope they don't try to reinvent Robin Hood from his origins.
I agree with Newkill, Ryan Reynolds would be a diaster as Robin Hood, unless they were taking it in a comical direction.
Also nice call, on Daniel Craig, Newkill, i now want him to play the Sheriff Of Nottingham.
And plz can we change the title to Ridley Scott's Nottingham...Ridley Scott's Robin Hood just sounds so plain and bland.

so robin hood is a democrat? take from the wealthy (whether money is earned legitimately or not) and give it to the poor (whether they are out on their "luck" or just lazy). lol
as a film and myth i love robin hood (especially fighting injustice), as a socio-political statement i dread what they appear to be trying to do with this movie.

Ryan reynolds would make a terrible Robin Hood, unless they were going to do a remake to Men in Tights and he would take over that role. But for this serious version of Robin Hood, reynolds just doesn't fit the profile. Maybe Daniel Craig. But i already like Crowe in this role.
