First Look at Rhys Ifans as the Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man

In addition to yesterday's photos of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker with a skateboard, and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy getting into a police car for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, Pink is the New Blog has revealed the first image of who they think is Rhys Ifans as The Lizard on the New York City set of the latest Spider-Man movie. Check out the photo below!

Rhys Ifans as the Lizard

The black get-up is obviously meant to shield The Lizard's makeup from cameras, but one can still make out some scale-age happening around the eyes. But he definitely doesn't look scary in his jogging outfit!

The Amazing Spider-Man was released July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Irrfan Khan, Campbell Scott. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

@jptheredskull Ya i remeber reading articles about it but they were all from Raimi's persepctive. I think it was you who led me to that Youtuber who is and has been on the set of the Spidey films. A Youtuber with quite a bit of insight into the whole ordeal.

I may be mistaken but i THINK that was you. Damn memory is short these days.

@skywise Actually, They wanted Raimi to do the film but he wasn't going to be able to produce a film by the time they needed it done to retain the rights, so, they used underhanded tactics to get him to drop out, and effectively, Maguire who they knew would leave without him.

@gandoff2169 Its pretty obvious that the studios had their hands all over Spiderman 3 and it shows and there was obviously bad blood between Raimi and the studio which is unfortunate because Raimi's style lent itself very well to the world of Spidey.

Its all in history now and The Amazing Spiderman is what we have so lets cross our fingers and hope it works.

@jptheredskull lucky we have what? this is a guy in a mask and a robe no one can tell what the lizard looks like from this photo. if the title didn't say rhys evans as the lizard you would have no idea what this even is. that fact that you have a hard on for so little is what movieweb is hoping for. so....you should probably stop pretending like someone has done you a favor by posting this photo

@jptheredskull.. I dont know who the insider is you seen in a youtube clip, but the article on commingsoon.net was a interview with Raimi himself. So how the actual director can be wrong compared to a insider, I have no clue. He had a 7 movie plote set up, with a villian to show a diffrent stage of his storyline. Thats why at the end of one you saw "spiderman" being blamed for Norman's death, to lead to the second film, that you saw the unmasking, to the hunting in three. So if thats not evidence enough to show he had a plot planned out, I dont know what eles will. But just becouse he has new information on the new film, dosnt mean he was a real know guy for the others.

@gandoff2169 INCORRECT!!!! @skywise You are too sorta. If you want to know the an explanation of the venom situation lookup youtube.com/spiderman2o29. He's a Spider-man film insider and knows his stuff. As well as loads of info on the new film. Look through his vids. he has an explanation as well as a REVIEW OF THE SCRIPT FOR THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.

    P.S. It's 100% legit.

Sooo...is Lizard going to be fully mutated via CGI to resemble the comics somewhat a la what they do with the Hulk, or is he going to resemble more of a deformed human, a la something along the lines of a Nolanized Killer Croc, hypothetically speaking? I vote the first one. I want an epic Lizard/Spidey throwdown.

@skywise. Actully, Raimi wanted to do the spiderman movies in a lead up to storylines. The original plans for 3 was Sandman and just the green goblin, with the symboit as a back drop. Then the ending with a tease of Venom. That was to lead to 4 with venom and lizard. and lizard was to be less a main villian then a accidental one. But the movie studio pushed for Venom in three, which couse for a rewrite to include venom, which made the movie all watered downed and over packed. But he was wanting to do Lizard with the Vulture as the a main villian. With the vulture and conners having a fued in the science world, which in the end couses him to turn. But with such a poor showing and reaction to spiderman 3, rami was canned, and his spiderman movie line was scraped, but the use of Lizard in the next film was basicly copied. He said it in a interview shortly after Garfield was cast as Parker on Commingsoon.net. He wanted to make Spiderman a long running movie line like Star Trek. But he said he was dissapointed it didnt happen, but he fully supported the new film. Which we all know is a PR stunt.

@jptheredskull i think i remeber reading that Raimi did not want to do Lizard (and Venom for that matter) because the CGI "would take us out of the character development. hence the Venom suit constantly pulling back to reveal the actors face all the time. That is not the Venom i know and love.

I think that this is the stage of Lizard after Dr. Conners becomes The Lizard. You know...The extreme stage is when it has a tail, green reptaile skin and real lizard face. And after that, you have the stage when Dr. Connors is back in control (his human side and not animal one) but I guess that after his first transofrmation that he can never brought back in his human form entirely. So...he looks ugly and that's why he wears the hood all the time. That's my theory. I've been right before ;)

@mka47 This is concrete. This photo was EXTREMELY to get. It's shocking that there's a picture at all from this particular shooting date. When they were shooting Lizard footage, they actually shut the production out to the general public with cameras and video. So.. you should be lucky at all that we have even this.

@jptheredskull I've seen the show. Too bad it got cancelled. In other words, I was expecting a less human looking picture. At least a yellowish lizard glare from the shadows or or a picture of him screaming with scales all over his body...I ask too much
