Hex, known for having the right side of his face disfigured and wearing a Confederate army uniform, was a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood.
Jonah Hex first appeared in the early 1970s in the issues of "All-Star Western" before graduating to his own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years. A new series was launched in 2005. The character also had a run in the 1990s that combined the Western genre with supernatural elements.
Jonah Hex was released June 18th, 2010 and stars Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Megan Fox, Michael Fassbender, Will Arnett, John Gallagher Jr., Tom Wopat, Michael Shannon. The film is directed by Jimmy Hayward.

Ahhhh i get you now, newkill, good point.
I was talking terms of movies that over here in the UK are 18 i think that may be on the border of hardcore R-rated and NC-17, not to sure.
R-rated over here is equal to a 15 rating
But yeah R-rated comedies come now and then and so does the occassional proper horror that ain't a bloody remake.
LOL
I think it does look a little goofy and well cartoony, kinda campish, lol. And yeah BD, i thought the same thing about that middle picture, lol The Hobbit goes to the Wild West :)

It looks a little cartoony, but i can't judge from this, i need to see a proper trailer and proper photos from the film.

oh yeah the middle picture just looks goofy, he looks like a dwarf in cowboy clothes. i think they should have done the scars up a bit more. i hope this is good, but that middle picture has me scratchin my head.

If R rated movies would die, then i'm sure many ways of making movies that need to push the envelope, which some movies need to go to that point to be effective, would die as well. So, what your talking about is a very gigantic whole missing in the movie industry.

i'm gunna agree with Newkill, R ratings rn't dying, there r plenty of comedies that r R rated and the horror genre releases at least 4 a year. then there r the random action movies that r too gory to be pg-13.

Lol, Oh hell no. I mean like Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express, Role Models, Superbad.
Your talking about camp horror genre's. I mean the ratings. I do agree that PG-13 is the best thing to grasp, but really when has R rated movies been on top of PG-13 movies. It's always been like this. the reason why many of today's r rated movies fail is because of the story. If the Dark Knight was r rated with the same story, it would still be a big success, of course not as big as it would be now.

I hope by r-rated comedies you don't mean Scary Movie, mate.
Drag Me To Hell was a brilliant one off movie, just because its sucessful doesn't mean the camp horror genre is gooing to make a massive returning comeback, and no one does camp horror like Raimi.
The only (18-15 in UK) R-rated films we seem to be getting hitting theatres these days are Saw, which apparently ends this year, and sh*tty MTV-style remakes of existing horror franchises.
Everything else seems to be grasping hold of a PG-13 rating (12a)

Also, we're seeing the return of R rated comedies, which do well, so i doubt we'll see the end to r rated movies.

Maybe i would agree with you Ottley, if the last r rated film that did well was in the 90's. Passion of the Christ, which was a huge r rated blockbuster hit, wasn't that long ago. And to tell you the truth r ratings have always been like this, they'll never die. Pg-13 have always been popular. There has never been a boat load of r rated films hitting the 200 mil total grossing mark.

Darko
J.A - The Punisher didn't flop because it was R rated, it flopped because it was too cheesy and cartoonish. I do agree with you that R rated flims are a dying breed. It sucks Hollywood sacrifies quality for a couple of extra dollars.

I was thinking that too, illuminati. Not enough disfigurement. Maybe they will CGI that, like with the last Two-Face. That would be SICK! :P

Illuminati
He's look disfigured enough, we get the point. This has potential, they certainly picked a great actor for the part.
It's smart to go with lesser known comics, gives the directors/writers freedom to change what they need to adapt it for the big screen.

Jonah Hex looks worse than that. But thats hollywood for ya. You whats funny? They always pick the comic books that nobody really knows about to go to film such as V and Constantine.

Well consider the fact, Newkill that Tarantino is the only person in hollywood creating original R-rated films.
And the simple fact that majority of theatrical R-rated films are sh*tty remakes and the good horrors fly straight to dvd, with unknown or small promotion.
Now tell me R-rating isn't dying, sh*t the most graphical film of the past years is bloody saw which is the only film holding a NC-17 rating trimmed to a hardcore R-rating.
Not tell me where the R-rating is going, they are dying because they aren't profitable anymore.
A r-rated film will only hit theatres if producers deem it profitable on cinema

Hey, J.A, tell that statement to Quentin Tarantino about R ratings and he'll laugh his ass off, with his millions of dollars in hand, because there's no way Inglorious Basterds is going to flop. Now, i agree about the comic book films not being rated r. But R ratings are not dying.

This will be a kick ass film but it will flop like Punisher Warzone. Having a R-rated comic to film adaptation, never works because it decreases the profit range upon auidences.
This will be awesome but flop because the R-rating is slowly dying
