Hairspray is originally based on the 1988 John Waters comedy about star-struck teenagers on a local Baltimore dance show. The new version of the film will be based on New Line's hit Broadway adaptation of the film, which debuted in 2002, and went on to win eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book and Best Director. Travolta will play Edna Turnblad and Queen Latifah will play Motormouth Maybelle in the film. Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman will contribute new songs to their Tony Award winning score.

I can't wait to see the movie, it is going to be awesome. I am a big fan of the first one, which I own on DVD and watch all the time. My kids are 8 and 10 and they can't wait for this either. It could be that my 10 year old daughter loves Zac Efron or it could be because I force-fed the first one to them. Either way we are going to love it!!!

WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! "I don't see anything special in this one...". This movie has such an amazing assembled cast, and they all sound great acting, dancing and all vocal wise. THIS MUSICAL MOVIE WILL DEFINITELY BE A SUCCESS AND BE VEY GOOD, I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!
