An all-female version of The Expendables is coming together
Screenwriter Dutch Southern has come aboard to write the script. No story details were given, except that it will be inspired by Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables franchise. Adi Shankar will produce through his 1984 Private Defense Contractors company, which is also fully financing the project. The company has financed recent movies such as The Grey, Machine Gun Preacher, Killing Them Softly, and Broken City.
This year has seen a number of female-driven action vehicles, such as Gina Carano's Haywire, Kristen Stewart's Snow White and the Huntsman and Lionsgate's blockbuster adaptation The Hunger Games. It is also worth noting that The Expendables 2 features a female team member, played by Nan Yu.
No production schedule was given. The production company is currently discussing the project with a number of unidentified actresses, although it isn't known if they plan on recruiting a female director as well.
The Expendables was released August 13th, 2010 and stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, David Zayas. The film is directed by Sylvester Stallone.

My favorite list would be: Helen Mirren, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale, Charlize Theron, Milla Jovavich, and Lucy Liu. Linda Hamilton, Michelle Rodriguez and Zoe Saldana can have smaller, but also important, roles. If a sequel happens then you can add others like Uma Thurman, Angela Bassett, Gina Carrano, Sharon Stone, and Demi Moore.

With all the females you guys named there weren't any black actress named, and there has been a black female in some of these action movies, so let me but a few black female in the mix; Angela Bassett, Gabrielle Union, and Kerry Washington.

Yes but @mr. Fixit, remeber Weaver did do that sexy underwear strip at the end of Alien. And she was sexy in Ghostbusters. Just messing with you. I agree with what you said. Those suggestions were pretty lame. If those stars were in an action flick like the The Expendables, they'd probably be too worried that they'd break a nail or toss their hair around too much and wouldn't get anything filmed.

@dan1 I would die happy if that were real, and contrary to popular belief here, I do not think The Expendables is at all corny. Badass is more like it. But Ziyi Zhang, Devon Aoki, Michelle Rodriguez, Uma Thurman, Kate Beckinsale, Kristanna Loken? Yes please! 10 years ago I would have agreed on Michelle Yeoh and she remains one of my all-time fav martial artist stars, but she's old and washed up, dude. Much like her former partner Jackie Chan. Give me the Michelle Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies and I'm all for it. But she can't be the mom figure of the cast. Same goes for the others you mentioned. Too old and washed up. I realize that's what Expendables is, but I just like young actors kicking ass, cuz they are the best at it. Some stuff with EX pissed me off too about that, but say that Sly vs. Steve Austin fight was no joke. Sly trained for that in 4 hours flat.

WTF??? Lopez? Lohan? Moss? Why would they even consider these three??? Dear Gawd that movie would suck if they were in it. And suck badly too! The reason why the cast of The Expendables work so well together is that their egos have been dead for awhile. They know that they only have so many years left in them. That their careers are going down hill, but they still have a few really good ones left if they do it together (some actors have many good years and movies ahead of them still). You people are talking T&A only actresses with ZERO action talent. Julia Roberts?? Seriously? Why was Kristen Stewart even mentioned in this thread?? Most of the ladies that were mentioned would be an automatic box office flop in an action movie like The Expendables. If you want something to spank it to, then fine, but if you want a serious action movie with badass women kicking serious ass, then rethink your suggestions. Weaver, Jolie and Rodriguez I agree with 100% Jovovich 95%. But these ladies need to be toughened up a lot. Hardened and rough. Not fancy and pretty with skin tight body suits. Weaver is THE first badass action lady.
