Shawn Levy to direct Fantastic Voyage for 20th Century Fox and James Cameron
James Cameron will produce this 3D adventure based on the classic 1966 Fantastic Voyage, which follows a group of scientists who are shrunk and sent through the bloodstream of a colleague hoping to save his life. The directing gig had been open since May, when we reported that Paul Greengrass had left the project.
We reported in October that James Cameron wanted Louis Leterrier to direct, although it seems a deal was never reached. Other directors such as Darren Aronofsky, Timur Bekmambetov, and Jonathan Mostow had also met with James Cameron about possibly directing Fantastic Voyage.
Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) is polishing the script, which was originally written by Shane Salerno. Laeta Kalogridis also served as executive producer of James Cameron's Avatar.
No production schedule was given for Fantastic Voyage at this time.
Fantastic Voyage is in development . The film is directed by Shawn Levy.
Fantastic Voyage was released August 24th, 1966 and stars Stephen Boyd, Raquel Welch, Edmond O'Brien, Donald Pleasence, Arthur O'Connell, William Redfield, Arthur Kennedy, Jean Del Val. The film is directed by Richard Fleischer.
